I know it has been suggest before but I still would love a travel forum or sub forum.

The travel thread just isn't good enough.

Why isn't it good enough? (not asking that in a snarky way, just genuinely curious, trying to get some feedback/answers) :)

For a couple reasons, it is much easier to log on and look at the titles of threads and click on the ones you are interested in. I don't want to read more about deals I am not interested in.

I would not want to have the hot deals section always have one thread for computers and have to keep clicking on it when i only want to find out about just laptops or just desktops etc.

Also on can keep track of a discussion easier if it is on one topic (or more than one that is very similar like differing deals to Europe, Asia, etc)

Is there a reason not to have a travel forum that i might not be aware of?

No, not at all :) All suggestions and feedback are welcome here. I was hoping that you would shed a bit more light on what you wanted to see, rather than just giving a blanket statement of "we need a travel forum." And I think you did a nice job of outlining what you wanted. If other members are interested in seeing a travel forum, they will also chime in with the feedback needed to get one going.

However, that being said, I am not sure how feasible an entire travel subforum would be at this time. We have lots of requests from members asking for various subforums for different topics all of the time, and if all of those requests were granted, we would be a forum of nothing but subforums!

But this is a community driven site, and if the interest is strong enough....who knows? ;)

I'm usually one defending the SD policy of "the fewer, the better," but this is one subforum I could definitely get behind. Travel deals are so diverse, and have so many specifics (dates, times, point of origin, destination, etc.), that one thread just isn't enough. I don't even bother to go in there, because it's just about unusable. And good luck trying to search for anything in there. It tends to discourage people from posting new deals, because no one will see them.

Tags and icons help, but they're often unused (or used incorrectly). To be honest, when I'm looking for a travel deal, I go elsewhere. SD's current setup just isn't conducive to posting/finding deals on travel.

I agree. We're looking for an inexpensive way to take our family to Mexico in January and can't figure out how to do it!
