The Vostro will be put to good use for school, but since I am graduating this year, also for auditing and other work related stuff. Being portable and aimed for a business user, I can use this for the small accounting firm I work at.

(We use Dell desktop right now, but not the vostro because Vostro wasn't out when we upgraded our computers).

i have been looking for a smaller screen laptop for myself, since my older one is always occupied by my kids and my wife and i have to beg to get it to do some work on it.

I would finally have some type of portability. Our old laptop got the cord tip broken off into it so we haven't been able to use it. This would be....... THE REPLACEMENT.

My, grandmother is 93 years old. She has tons of old photographs that are unmarked. Many of these photos are of family members dating back to the 1700's. My 4-year-old laptop died at the end of September, and i've spent countless sleepless nights (and afternoons with the computer tech) trying to remember all my passwords to documents etc in order for him to retrieve all the data that was kept on it, even emails as old as 2005 (!). This was my 'baby' and my lifeline, as I travel on-the-job and store a ridiculous amount of stories and literally THOUSANDS of photos on it... without which I would not only be laptop-less but also job-less (well, i'm still job-less but that's not because of the laptop)...
To put my laptop to rest, I had to pay for the 'labor' of the tech to dig up things he should have known how to find... Oh-! and I had to hide my face in shame when he advised me that in the future, if I have any "revealing photos" that i don't want "found" by accident by a copmuter tech, for example, I should save those to a CD....... He admitted he got an eyeful of my "revealing" photos, they were done "for fun" for my then-boyfriend - - Lesson learned: if your laptop is that old, and contains that much critical data, whether for work or for fun, it's totally my fault when the darn thing Crashes, the motherboard is Fried, and the R-rated photos are exposed~! I just hope they don't wind up on the internet somewhere.........:eek:
I work with diverse cultures around the world. I don't make a ton of income. The laptop is critical to my job. I will definitely replace the dead laptop, as I currently am using an 8-year-old DELL desktop, and most certainly, I will not use it for storing private photos~!! Shame on me~!!
