My husband is struggling to break even as an independant truck driver and it has been hard with the high prices of deisel fuel. In addition to fuel prices, he has had to contend with several setbacks because of truck repairs. He works very hard but we never seem to have enough money to get a newer computer to keep up with all the trucking records that have to be kept for the business. Our old computer works but just doesn't have the advances in technology needed to do things efficiently. A new laptop would be the greatest Christmas present ever!

Mine is a real POS. It runs and charges perfectly normally during the day. But then at night (when I use it most), for some strange farking reason, it STOPS charging the battery and consequently shuts down. Everything else in my house (including other computers) runs fine on the electricity. The electric company even checked out the lines, and said there were no power fluctuations.

We have a budding web development business and we meet with our clients often. Lugging around our 17" Vaio gets old when we are out and about giving demo's to our potential clients. I would give the laptop to my dad (no kidding). He has Multiple Sclerosis, and has a hard time with hand coordination. He cannot use a mouse, but he can use a touch-pad pretty well. Because he lives in a small apartment in an assisted living facility, space is at a premium for him, and a laptop would fit his needs very nicely. It would give him a lot of freedom to take care of his own bills online, send emails, and I'd get him a web cam and Skype so that he could communicate with the outside world much more easily.
