Unless your area has $10 off $10 giftcertificates available these are really useless because the site you have to redeem them at charges full price for the certificate.
A $25 giftcertificate costs $15 with your certificate. You can get a much better deal on their regular sales then this. The best I can do in my area is buy a $10 giftcertificate that I have to spend $20 to use and I can usually do better then that with their sales.:(

Restaurant dot com is total crap anyway, i love freebies, but wouldn't even bother with this one. good luck trying to get anything near you. my opinion is they are a money making scam, more hassle than its worth. i got some a couple years ago and couldnt even redeem the damn things when i went to the restaurant.

Each one is only worth about a $1 (normal cost $3, with common coupon codes for 70% off). It's only worthwhile because you can do it at least 30 x 3 times = $90 (or more if you use multiple accounts). But I'm not sure what I'll do with all these coupons.

This is so true.
I think a lot of people reading/posting this thread think they're getting a $10 gift certificate you can take to a restaurant and use. That's not the case and you're the first person to really point out the HUGE catch here.
All you are getting is a $10 voucher to BUY dollar-off coupons from restaurants.com. That coupon you buy is likely to have all kinds of restrictions on what you can do with it. It may also require you to spend more than $10 at the restaurant. The coupon itself may cost more than $10 so you'll have to go out of pocket just to get some coupons. So in the end, yes, you'll get $10 off at a restaurant but it may not be the way you expect to receive it. They are not handing out free $10 bills which many people on this thread seem to think is happening.
And as lickadeal pointed out, you can usually get a better deal at restaurants.com during one of their percent-off sales.

Sorry, this is a thumbs down for a restaurant.com deal. Like the person said before, this is not a $10 restaurant.com voucher. This is a $10 credit to a different restaurant.com (http://cobrand.theidealmeal.com/) than what we're used to. It's really the same site only with different deals on the same restaurants. For example, previously a $25 certificate cost $10 or really $3 with 70% off. Through this promotion, the $10 "credit" will only get you a $10 certificate and there is no place to add a coupon code. On top of that, the $10 certificate has restrictions (mine said minimum $20 purchase).
If you already are going to eat at a restaurant and are not going to spend that much, this can be useful. However, normally you can get a $25 certificate (to be used on a $35 purchase) for $3 ($10 with 70% off).
Now: $10 spent / $20 worth of food= 50% discount max plus taxes and tip
Normally: $13 spent / $35 worth of food = 63% discount max plus taxes and tip
50% is not a slickdeal deal to me if normally it is 63%.:yummy:

I got this in my email. How amazing that they are doing this. You can send 3 free $10 gift certificates to restaurants to people you know or in need. You don't have to be a current customer, either! I am getting some peoples names at my church and going to make sure they get some of these!
Dear Valued Customer,
Many people wonder how the economy will impact their lives. Will they be able to give holiday gifts to everyone on their list? A down economy has the potential to take gifts away from loved ones and to deprive people of one of the greatest gifts of all, the gift of giving. Giving lifts spirits, spreads joy, and strengthens communities. Restaurant.com has begun the holiday gift giving by launching a giving site - www.Restaurant.com/FeedItForward - stocked with $30 million in free restaurant gift certificates. From now through Christmas, you can pass on 3 Free $10 Restaurant.com Gift Certificates every day, as part of our initiative called, Feed It Forward™.

This season, every day counts and every gifts counts. Help us Feed It Forward™ to everyone on your list. Give to friends. Give to neighbors. Give to families in the military. Give to grandparents. Give to co-workers. Give to working moms. Give to those that would not otherwise make your holiday list, but most of all, give.

Aren't these discount coupons for restaurants like $10 off $25. I can't see how anyone who is truely needy is going to be eating at restaurants, even at a discount.

this actually is funny, first, you have to drive 20-30 miles for a restaurant and then purchase 20-25 worth of food to even use it. it's basically just a coupon. They aren't losing any money..

LOL, yep that's what I was saying. Let's all give thumbs up for spending money... yay..

I just don't understand the purpose of prepaid tips these days.It means my waiter can ignore me throughout my entire visit ,not refill my drink, not give me an extra napkin,or even so much as ask if everything is OK and she still gets a full tip.

WE had a nice lunch yesterday at a new place on this. it was $25 before coupon but ok cause it included a salad to go for today's lunch at work. It was a sandwich type place and I'd go there again, with a cert, of course.
Anyway, there were no customers at 3 pm and the guy was happy to get our $15.

even if they paid me, I would not tangle with r.com.
they treated me poorly and would not refund on a virtual item ('gift cards'). they lost me forever as a customer with that stunt they pulled.
even free, its not worth getting caught up with these dirtbags.

After looking at where I can eat in my area, there is like nothing to great at all. The terms are a little high as far as how much have to order. Example:
This is for a %25 GC
Valid for Dinner/Dine in Only with a minimum FOOD purchase of $35 off the regular Menu. An 18% gratuity will be added to original bill.
PASS for me

WOW! 16.3$(including tip) is pretty steep for a dinner out that would normally cost 35$ plus the tip anyway right?
