I've got my search for a laptop in the $750 price range pretty much down to these two unless someone can give me something better for the price. The HP has great specs and is a Centrino 2 which is what I prefer. However, I'm not a huge fan of the track pad, it has a lot of drag. It is also lighter and smaller screen which I like. This one is $699 at Circuit City. Here is the link to it.

The Lenovo is a better looking computer in my opinion. It is not centrino 2, but has good specs otherwise. I love the feel, as I am used to having an IBM (My last laptop was an IBM T42 for 4 years) so that is definitely a pro. I don't know though, what do you guys think? Should I think this highly of Centrino 2, or does it really not make much of a difference? This one is $730 at Circuit City. Here is the link to this one.

Also, does anyone know what the battery is like on either of these?

Well in this case the HP's spec is better. faster CPU and smaller size.

The Lenovo is nice laptop as well. Though not Centrino 2, it is however the T5800 (the revised T7200) which is sorta like Centrino 1.5.

I am also not a fan of HP's track pad (too much drag) and Hp's glossiness all over the place.

I own the Lenovo Y430. Similar specs to the Y530 except just a smaller 14.1 screen. I love my Lenovo. Overall this is a tough choice. Spec wise I would say go with HP. Quality wise I say go with Lenovo.
