View Full Version : Taking a turn to rant about Greenfield and others!

Here's the scenario:

I get an email saying there is a survey available for somewhere between $3 & $10 dollars, for about 10-15minutes. So I give it a try. When I get it, it screens me to see if I have kids in a certain age group. When I fit the criteria, it asks me to have my child in said age group take the survey. So, I call my kid over and they get excited cause they like to do surveys because mommy does them. And I always promise them the money when they do it.

Next my child starts the survey, answers - oh let's say 40 FREAKING QUESTIONS - and then of course - DQ! It's just wrong. You make my daughter sit there for ten minutes answering all those questions and then tell her oops sorry wrong answers. I'm an adult, and I can barely stand it, but to do that to a kid? Seems really wrong to me.

Oh and that's not to mention that half of the questions to ask are hard for an adult to understand let alone a child! They say the questions are to be answered by an "8 to 12" year old and yet the questions are worded as though an adult is taking the survey. I really think these survey companies need to buy a freaking clue!

They aren't trying to let you *qualify* to take the survey to get paid... what you're doing if it's that long, IS the damn survey and they just don't want to have to pay people to take it. Every time I have done one of those (I don't bother anymore.) I would end up realizing about half way through that the questions they are asking are the ones a company wants answers to. There *is* usually no survey past that one. And when there actually is, it takes so long that it is most definitely not worth the hour of your life for the freaking $4 they want to pay. If you're going to allow your kids to do them, you need to explain to them they might not get paid for it. Getting their hopes up sucks.

My son is 17 and gets asked by a number of survey companies to do their surveys but he went through that so many times that he has no interest at all in them now so I just delete them when they come in. I agree, it really is a shame to make a child or teen go through all those questions only to DQ them. Or they expect him to do a survey and not even offer compensation. :shake: There's certain companies that I avoid for myself too for the same reasons.

That would be doing exactly the wrong thing! The people that take surveys and don't fit into the demographic are one of the reasons why the survey sites have begun to suck so bad.

Yep! There is nothing wrong with sitting there to help explain things but it needs to be their own responses. The only ones my kids get involved in (ages 15 and 17) are a couple that do mostly the focus groups and pay really well. Anywhere from $50 for short ones to $150 or more for something that involves doing things over a period of several days. They really enjoy them. Companies like 20/20 and a couple others that escape my memory at the moment. They do quick screener surveys and if they want more info, they call and ask more questions and then let you know right then if you're going to be doing the project.

This is just awful, but does not surprise me in the least. These companies get paid by their clients to collect data from us. Companies have learned that can collect this data without having to pay out a dime by offering "sweepstakes/chances to win", or like in your case, they disguise the actual survey as a "prequalify" and then they disqualify you(and your child) once they have gotten all the data they need.

They do not take into consideration (and do not care) how valuable our time is, and they are only looking to cash in by providing their clients this survey data without ever having to compensate the folks like us who take time out of our days to sit there and answer every survey question posed to us.

We need to all wake up, come together, and stop letting this companies take advantage of us. We are all struggling financially, and for these companies to play on our emotions by offering us "a chance at $1,000 dollars", or tell us that the survey takes 5 mins but it actually turns into 40 mins (and then you get disqualified!) is just unethical and disgusting.

Let's stop posting any invites/links for "chances to win/sweepstakes" and if it is a company that is known to deceive people (such as Greenfield), let's stop posting links to their surveys as well!

In my opinions, Focus Groups (in person and on the web) such as 20/20 Research are the best way to earn extra cash on the side without having to sort through which survey companies are scams and which are legitimate.

Greenfield is so odd. They will send me a link to take a survey - I click on it - then it says are you "first name last name" - I click yes and then I am DQ!!!

Or maybe that's Mindfield... either way I want those seconds of my life back NOW!!!

Not so odd. This happens frequently with me also. The survey I click on is usually for a paid survey that is worth my time. Somehow, that survey is magically full, but they are polite enough to let you continue to the next survey: which will be an unpaid one.

Of course I may be off base here, because odds are that paid surveys fill up fast. But my response times from when I recieve the email and respond to it are usually very short (since I am on line all day). My guess these are simply "mythical" paid surveys which they use to entice people to the site to get them to do the unpaid ones.

I don't bother with Greenfield unless I'm really bored :P !

In fact, a few weeks ago, I got an email from them "inviting me" to participate in a $75 online survey or forum of some sort, and of course, when I clicked on the link, I got a message saying I had already completed the survey. I complained via email, and actually got a response, that supposedly my complaint had been forwarded to the project manager, but that's the last I ever heard of it.

I expect nothing from Greenfield, and am usually not disappointed :D .

I don't bother with them anymore. It took them five months to credit a $10 survey to my account. I got my $10 and gave up on them completely. Even if I do qualify, it's not like I'm going to see the money anytime in the near future.

Greenfield changed their name i believe i read in a Pinecone survey but for the likes of me icannot remember it ...guess they do that when they get a bad rep....for those of you that have time to research you might want to avoid their new named co too. Sorry i dont have the info....just running on empty today, yesterday the day before.........

If you make your kid do the survey, you should pay them anyway. That's just my opinion. It's making them work for no reason. :p

Greenfield has been great to me. I've made over $300 in the past 2 months and have been paid lightening fast via paypal. No complaints here!
