Trying to balance out the thumbs-downs. Here's some more thoughts.

First, it was mentioned to give them to the MANAGER. Not the server- server is moot in this thread. You give it to the one who will listen, HAND them a card, and thank them in person. Something in your hand means a lot more than just words. It will leave a bigger impression. Feedback is what is important when it comes to what stays on the menu.

Second, I don't think the FB thing was directed at OP.

Third, thanks for offering something here. I don't get the threadcrapping, if you aren't vegan or don't care, move on. It will be important to someone, I am sure.

So you are saying we are no longer allowed to say why we dislike a deal on slickdeals anymore? All we can do in the comments/replies is to praise the OP and offer no constructive criticism? Is this an existing rule or one you just made up? Because my first post was not rude/trolling. I simply stated my reasons for giving it a thumbs down and offered a suggestion on to how to more properly get your point across (by talking to the manager). However you felt the need to delete it, and all the other posts that said that this was a crappy deal. Every thread on slickdeals has posts like that. I assumed since this was an open forum that had thumbs up and down, that we could discuss our feelings on the deal. Or is this site now being redirected to www.slickdeals.nazi.de?
I find it amusing how 'deals' about $50 HDMI cables can get shot down by the masses without a problem (and rightfully so) from the mods, but whenever anyone creates a thread about anything controversial, the rules change to support the zealots. But whatever.

You went off on not giving the card to the waiter because they don't care. But the title, OP and website all say give to the manager. Kind of moot, no? Got the ball rolling on the negativity ball as well as a debate on vegan/not, not your intention I don't think but it happened. I think that's what was removed, unfortunately some great convo was as well. :( Hopefully it can stay positive and on-topic so we can share ideas/info instead of bile.

The OP says to leave the cards with your bill, which is why I said what I said.

he meant to attack people choosing their own lifestyle. he got what he asked for. as far as bile i sure hope ur not speaking of any of the things i stated, they are actual factual. i truly believe these cards are a nice way of telling the manager and the owner people appreciate having a vegan selection. Thanks OP

Apparently you have reading comprehension issues, because I specifically said in both of my posts that I am not dissuading people from choosing that lifestyle, and 'more power to them' if they do. However, I did point out that if servers get these things, they will either throw them out or laugh at them with coworkers and then throw them out; and that if people chose to be vegan, then they shouldn't try to force it down other people's throats as the only proper way to eat, especially since it, contrary to your point, is against nature. And my point still stands: if you do feel the need to share your ideology with the restaurant, make sure you don't leave it as your only tip.

I don't see how showing appreciation to a restaurant for having vegan choices is shoving ideology down anyone's throat.

The restaurant wants return customers. If they see the customers are happy with the menu selections, it does make an impact. Vegan dishes go far beyond salad and not many places offer much in that direction. People on Weight Watchers spoke up and now many restaurants offer multiple low cal/carb etc choices besides the cottage cheese plate and the side salad. Don't see where these hurt. If you want some "Thanks for the steaks" papers, make them up and I bet others will use them as well.

I'd rather see a card on the table of a restaurant (better- handed to a manager) than PETA stickers all over my mail. At least the message is well aimed, whether servers laugh or not. Vegans are aware of their choices/decisions and how it impacts their health, doesn't seem like this is the place for a rehash on that. ;)

LOL on the Mcd"s comment!

Interesting! I see that now. *Used* to be that the managers would run the register, ah the good old days LOL....
