Dead.
Be aware: This is a PROBIOTIC product like the Activia yogart and those Cheeses and Granola bars with Probiotics in them. Some kids get diarhea from this stuff.
Info:
How does BOOST Kid Essentials Nutritionally Complete Drink support a strong immune system?
The straw provided with BOOST Kid Essentials Drink is specially formulated to deliver an effective daily dose of the probiotic Lactobacillus reuteri Protectis.
Emerging Importance of Probiotics
Probiotics – an Introduction
Ingestion of probiotics dates back thousands of years, and not just in adults. Many countries worldwide have a tradition of introducing live active cultures (bacteria) to infants and children early in life, in fermented foods such as yogurt.
Probiotics (meaning “for life”) are live, nonpathogenic microorganisms that, when consumed in adequate amounts, provide specific health benefits to the host.1 Clinical benefits include aiding digestion, treating and preventing viral diarrhea, reducing the risk of necrotizing enterocolitis (NEC), and supporting a healthy immune system.2-4 Approximately 70-80% of the body’s immune cells are located within the gastrointestinal tract, specifically within the gut-associated lymphoid tissue (GALT).5
The dietary use of probiotics is strain-specific; various probiotics promote different health benefits.6 Lactobacillus is one of the most widely studied genera of probiotics, proving numerous health benefits across many illnesses.6 BOOST® Kid Essentials Nutritionally Complete Drink contains Lactobacillus reuteri Protectis, delivered through the straw, to help support a healthy immune system.
Probiotics contribute to a healthy immune system by:2-4
Balancing the intestinal flora; probiotics increase the number of beneficial bacteria and occupy receptors to displace harmful bacteria
Acidifying the intestinal lumen to create an environment unfavorable to less desirable bacteria
Improving gut barrier function through the production of short-chain fatty acids, especially butyric acid
Helping to build and maintain a healthy immune system; modulating the immune response and increasing production of immunoglobulins (such as secretory-IgA)
Enhancing the production of a balanced T-helper cell response (by influencing the differentiation of T-helper cells into Th1 or Th2 cells)
Why is a balanced microflora important?
A healthy intestinal flora performs many important functions in the body, including:
Digestion of complex foods, such as fiber
Enhancing the absorption of nutrients from food
Synthesis of vitamins
Supporting the intestinal barrier function

If you want to avoid the high potassium, give the boost drinks as a supplement, only. When you decide to do McDonald's for dinner, maybe. Just don't give this and a lot of fruits and juices, too, since they are also high in potassium. These aren't made for everyday unless your child is a VERY ticky eater and won't eat hardly any veggies or fruits. ;)

Attention - Beware of the Probiotics in this product if your kids are sensitive to stuff like Activia Yogurt or those Probiotic cheese snacks.
I added info to the wiki on how this is not just a Boost drink for kids (loaded with sugar of course) - it's Boost drink (loaded with sugar) PLUS Probiotics. I'd check with your family doctor before handing one of these to the children. I frequent the Kraft food website messageboards and their probiotic producrs get lots of posts about how kids and adults have gotten sick from their probiotic products.
I think the products are probably safe if used AS DIRECTED but lots of folks don't realize that Probiotic products can't be gobbled up or guzzled down like their regular counterparts without the potential for some very unpleasant hours in the bathroom!
Just be careful is all. I'm not trying to alrm people, just give them a head's up.

i have to crush up peas and carrots so he wont see them. and then he hunts through his food and finds it:lol: so it may be an good idea then:nod: :) he eats beans, corn, potatoes but that about all the veggies he will eat by himself. but fruit he eats apples, grapes and stuff like that even raisins. i will just try it and end up being a weekly frink for extr nutrition or half a bottle one day and the other later:)

Got mine, too. My boys like it. They tried a sample a couple months ago at the Ped's office. The Ped recommends serving it cold. They gave my boys a nice cold sample and they loved it!

Wow those things are really expensive. I wonder why that is? Are they really any different than any other nutritional drink on the market?

My kids like it frozen, and eaten with a spoon (you've got to have a long, skinny spoon!)

Comes in the USPS mail. They carry these at our Homeland, Walmart, and Target. I got some for my wife to drink when she gets her tonsils out in a few weeks.

I forgot I signed-up for this. My family always laughs at me when I'm surprised at what comes in the mail. Anyway, mine has a 2/22 expiration date. I couldn't find it at our Walmart though I didn't try real hard.

Picked up the last 2 packs from my local CVS Pharmacy in Morganton, NC. They only had 2 Vanilla packs left and I was hoping for chocolate. I nicely ask the cashier if I could ring up the two coupons separate thinking that there was no way I could get both coupons to work in a single transaction. Well, she was nice enough to tell me that their system would allow you to scan more than one of the same coupons in one transaction.
The bad thing was that even though coupon subtracted the total cost of the item meaning:
13.9913.99-13.99coupon-13.99coupon=0.00, I still had to pay $1.98 in taxes.
Have not tried them yet since someone recommended to drink them cold. Will try them tomorrow when it's chilled.

My HEB didn't even blink at it. Took it with no problem. It required manager approval b/c it was over $10, but that's it. I think it was $10.99 at the store.

I used two coupons at CVS, but had to convince the Manager to take the two coupons, as I was buying two of the products  Gawd he's an awful Manager and just hates it when you walk away with a zero on your total :) I bought other items, had a $5 off $25 purchase, and rang up with $0.0 dollars, he wasn't happy as usual - too bad. I got the Vanilla flavor, and I gave them to a woman who's child really needs this and can't afford it.

Only place I could find it was Publix. My little grandson loved the chocolate one. OK, maybe I messed up. I poured his in a sippy cup. Do you have to drink it with the straw they provide to get all the nutritional benefit? Or did I miss read? TIA for any info,

Found mine in the baby aisle at Target in Everett. I asked the Target employee working that department where to find it and he didn't know...but it was there. They had both vanilla and chocolate in stock and they cost $9.99. With coupon, I paid no tax.

Hi, Try the baby food section.
My Kroger had Vanilla and Chocolate left. (Kroger, Southern WV area ) Shelf Price was $11.99.
Couldnt find in Walmart or Foodland, CVS or Rite Aid. No Target in my area.
Also... my sister in CT (eastern CT ) got her coupon and went to Big Y. They wouldnt accept the coupon until they verified it first. Once they verified, the let her have one.
My daughter tried it. Said it was okay but a bit bland.
Hope that helps!

I've found this at Walgreens, too. I think it was 13.99 there.
My 2 yo DD likes it, but then she likes the ensure, pediasure, and boost type things.

I found them at the following stores: (Morganton, NC to Hickory, NC)
CVS Pharmacy
Walgreens
Target
Food Lion
Ingles (have 3 flavors: Chocolate, Vanilla, and Strawberry)
I have only bought the Vanilla and Chocolate. My two daugthers do not like Vanilla but sure does love the Chocolate.

I found it at Target by the baby formula too, and I was able to use a $2 off Target coupon for Kids Essentials, so it was a money maker. :)
It came in the Sunday newspaper a couple of weeks ago. I can't remember exact date, but it was in a double page with many Target coupons for Nestle products. HTH!
