I saw that someone else posted a free booze freebie and wanted to pass along another airline who is giving away free booze. I got on british airways and both on the way to london and on the way back from london they were offering free booze. I just got back last night! :) They don't check I.D.

They all give free booze on trans-oceanic flights. I'd be surprised if BA gave free booze on intra-European flights though.

There are a few airlines that give free booze on other flights also. I seem to remember KLM giving Heineken (local brew) and wine on a flight to from Amsterdam to Gothenburg. Only aware of hard stuff on the trans-oceanic ones though.

took BA in december. the wine was real good and they aren't cheap with it, so yea good trip!

I am sure almost all airlines provide free alcoholic beverages on transceanic flights. Usually this is an option of red/white/sparkling wine, beer, and mixed drinks. This applies to coach travel as well.

The difference you get with business and first classes is a better selection of alcohol.

You'll have to pay for drinks of any kind on any budget airline when you are hopping from the continent to the UK. Also, I don;t think you get the free drinks on other short haul international flights either.

Flying across the Atlantic though? I'm not aware of any airlines that do not give free booze on those flights. The idea is to get liquored up on long-haul flights to help you sleep.

Yes, free booze is typical on international flights. I've flown on BA, Virgin Atlantic, SAS, Lufthansa and Air Tahiti Nui and they all served free alcohol - hard liquor and wines and beer. Air Tahiti Nui was great - they all had cognac and champagne (not sparkling wine but real French champagne). And I always fly coach.

Just talked to a colleague that said United was charging for drinks on a trans-Atlantic flight (ORD to AMS, I believe). Not sure if that's a new policy going forward or if he was confused.

took a united flight from AMS to ORD and did not pay for the drinks. The best part about that was they came back several times to give drinks (unlike other airlines).

thye cannto charge drinks on a international flight. other airlines do not, so it would be a bad business strategy.

While I mostly agree with you, charging to check luggage, charging for snacks, and charging for pillows seem like bad business strategy too... but it doesn't stop an airline from trying. Just takes one airline to be the first.

I was unaware that airlines give free alcohol on Trans-Atlantic flights. I am both surprised at it because every airline likes to charge for everything under the sun, but on the other hand I am less then surprised because they are long boring flights and they charge you quite a bit for it anyway.

I flew San Fransisco to Tokyo last summer and had to pay for drinks :(
