This may be common knowledge but we found out at Lowes the other day that they offer 10% off every day to military. They offer the discount advertised several times a year but the cashier said its everyday. The catch is that they do not offer up the information - you have to ask for it. My husband was in uniform and she didnt give it to us till we asked.
Just FYI

I have asked for a military discount at lowes and they told me that they only offer it certain times of the year, usually during holidays like 4th of july. I know that home depot gives military 10% discount every day.

If your cashier tells you this then ask for the manager. My local Lowe's manager told me to do this, retired military can show their DD-214 for the extra discount.

They had been doing this for the last year or so at my Lowes but ended it this month.

We were just there on Monday and the cashier says they have it every day for military you just have to show your ID and they have to get a managers key for it. She said its a pain because they dont have a bar code to scan in order to give it easier so they probably are just being lazy when they say they dont have it.

Please put YMMV on this topic. It has been discussed numerous times here. Not all stores participate in the military discount program.

I disagree with the statement above...
I live in Southern California.
I have a Lowes and a Home Depot close by.
Lowes offers 10% military discount EVERYDAY. All you have to do is show your military ID card and ask for the discount.
Home Depot only offers military discount on holiday weekends such as Veterans Day and Memorial day, July 4 etc. They used to offer the discount everyday but stopped doing it. I have been to several Southern California locations and the policy is the same.
I don't go anywhere without asking for a military discount.
Keep in mind store policies may be different around the nation.

If you are RETIRED military why are you lugging around your DD-214????
Do you not have a Retired Military ID card??? Which is standard Government issue....

You can also use your military discount in conjunction with any other coupons you have!
