My last Latitude was dropped 40 feet out the back of a CH-47 onto a dry riverbed in Afghanistan in 2006. I opened up my rucksack... took it out of it's case... powered it up... DING ...it worked flawlessly.

Dell has always been my laptop choice for work, and while I prefer to home-build my PCs, I have owned over the years 4 Dell Laptops. I must say, the SSD sounds extremely tasty, and paired with previous performance of Dell laptops I would imagine it does wonders. Reading the review makes me think it's and overall great PC.

This PC would be great for me! I love the high resolution LCD display(great for editing High resolution photos) and the fact it has a SSD. SSD should mean lower power consumption. Also, I am sure the 2.53 Dual Core Processor will pack a punch with a 6Mb cache!

The Processor and Display are insane for a laptop. The OS, Bluetooth, Wireless N, and battery are all great picks. Dunno why only 2GB of ram. The webcam, mic, and non-integrated graphics are all pluses. The SSD is a decent size. Seems full of quality parts. Vostro's always seem to be built pretty solid.

This would be a great laptop to finish my criminal justice major and i could give my old laptop to my girlfriend who doesn't have one! it's a win win situation.

The SSD and capable processor alone boast value for the price tag; throw in the fact that it uses XP and other perks like mobile broadband capability and backlit keyboard and you have a machine that has the power to perform, yet also all the bells and whistles that make it attractive, efficient, and stylish. I'm currently running a Dell desktop that was purchased 4 years ago, and with only few upgrades it is still getting the job done for me. I've been pleased with Dell, but often tempted to look elsewhere for a 'business' laptop. With this model Dell has done enough to keep my interest and support. I would be thrilled to have one of these.

My company is now looking to purchase our 3rd generation of Latitudes. I've seen just how well these little machines hold up over the years. They're made well and represent excellent value for a small-business like ours. I just wish I could make my D-Series peripherals work with the new models.

P.S. - I love the backlit keyboards for flights. My wife will love them for sleep - no more of me keeping the lamp on until all hours!

Answer is simple- I own a brothe rof lattitude and that machine was purchased in 2005- still going strong without any failure. Everytime someone asks me I advise them to for a lattitude.

I've had a Dell laptop for a couple years now, and have never had a single problem. Wouldn't mind getting a new top-of-the-line one, though! Beats getting something half-cocked from HP or Compaq.

i wanted this laptop when it came out because it is very powerful but still lightweight and compact and maintains a professional look, most other laptops are lacking in one of these areas.

As a Engineering College Student, This would be a great computer to replace what Im currently running. The SSD , partnered with the processor would help greatly with my studies, since my current rig has difficulty with the various CAD programs.

Dell has always been my choice. I used them at home and work. Great support too!

Most computers run into bottlenecks such as hard drive speed, battery life, video, etc. This particular laptop is basically a cadillac with a strong V-8 in it. With the SSD drive and the DDR800, along with the video card and processor, it is an extremely robust laptop.

Dell's got a great history with laptops, this should be no exception!

Both my brother and I have been very happy with our Dell laptops for years now. It's the first company I consider.

I currently use a 6500 with a traditional spindle and love it. It is more stable an performs substantially better than my old latitude D620. It runs 64 bit Enterprise Vista without any problems. Dell also makes great laptops in general, perhaps second in quality only to HP (go ahead, disqualify!). In any case, employees come to me for computer recommendations and I invariably recommend Dell for best-value laptops or desktops
