I just got a xbox 360 pro 20gb, and it comes with component & RGB/audio cables. I wanted one with an HDMI, but I was wondering if there's a difference in sound/video quality.

RGB delivers HD, but is it comparable to HDMI? I'm thinking of selling the xbox and waiting for another cheap one if HDMI is better.

I dont know about PRO version of the 360, but don't all models accept HDMI?

I remember I had regular xbox 360 cables and switched to HDMI.

You can tell the difference.

I think the cables are 720P and HDMI is 1080i or 1080p depending on your tv scaling.

If your xbox can accept hdmi, just buy one, if it cant then don't stick with what you got!

Part of the answer depends on the TV you're using. Is it 1080 or 720? If 720, Component would do fine. Actually, the component can do 1080i, the problem lies in the fact the not all TV's can do 1080 through the component input. Remember, too, that most of the games are 720p. Even on PS3, 1080p is only blu ray movies right now. Games are still often 720.

The 360 can actually achieve 1080p via component depending on the TV.

You need to set the video output on the 360 dashboard in the system settings. It's probably set to only output 720 or so. PM if you have further questions.

Okay, the only thing left to say is that HDMI is digital and component is analog. At this point, it's personal preference. If you don't mind waiting, go ahead and sell yours and wait for the HDMI option. You need to check the manual or your manufacturer site to see if your TV accepts 1080 anything via component input.

If you don't have 1080p TV, purchase the VGA cables because you can run the native resolution of your lcd tv.
1366 X 768 ... if you go with component/HDMI you'll be stuck at the unative 720P 1280 x 720

other thing to consider is 1080p better than 720p in regards to 360. most games aren't made for 1080p so they are just scaled to 1080p.

if you got the hd dvd player and have a lot of hd dvds.

what model is your tv?
