Please! Do not discuss the contents of ANY surveys for any reasons. A lot, if not most of them rely on your unbiasted opinion. Once you know what to expect, the opinion changes. These PHD candidates work very hard, so do not mess with their research. Thanx
Since details are not yet clear about how new website will operate, i will leave old tips up. Only thing i can add right now is, once you select the timeslot, it will not be tied to that. I was able to just select timeslot for 9am, and the comformation email i recieved contained direct link with the study being available.
If you already have some more details to add, please pm me and i will gladly add it
1st Ignore the points in the appointments tab, they are useless for us
2nd There are several types of paying surveys.
-Surveys where everyone gets paid (usually $5 Amazon GC)
-Surveys with lottery (prizes start at $25 Amazon GC to $100 Amazon GC)
-Surveys that pay with paypal(they will ask your address or you provide it at the end)
-Surveys that are paid with check being mailed to you...
FAQ
1. When are the surveys posted? In my experience, they are posted anytime!, but I have noticed that a lot of them show up at 6-7am.
2. Omg, I have missed the survey, what i'm i gonna do? 90% of surveys comeback a few times over the next few days(sometimes weeks)
3. What are these surveys that say I can't do them for various reasons? They are either designed for specific group of people who did some previous survey that you have not done, or some surveys are broken up into several parts(for different states/political affilication, etc)
If I forgot something or you have something useful to add, plz pm me and i will add it!
Now, lets wish everyone good luck in winning the lotteries!@

LOOK AT THE END OF THIS FORUM FOR new studys
As of 3/28/08: Registration is open again.
The GSB Behavioral Lab has reached its maximum number of new participants and is not accepting applications presently. Registration will open again soon.
***NEW INFO as of 2/23/08: I emailed them, and they said they are opening up for new signups at the end of February, and would email me to sign up when they do, so it looks like there will be an opportunity to sign up very soon! yay!! -fadingfortune
[as of 3/7/08]i got an email from them that allowed me to sign-up using the link given in the email, only for selected participants. So if you emailed them inquiring when they were going to reopen the panel like i did, check your emails, you may have gotten an invite!
Due to some system changes, the GSB Behavioral Lab is not accepting new participant accounts at this time.
I went into this link today: http://stanfordpsychpaid.sona-systems.com ---Most of the ones on this sign up are actually performed at Stanford so it won't do as well as the original GSB signup link. They have a few every once in awhile in which will be online, but again, most of them are actually performed at Stanford. (em072205)
For the Stanford Psychology panel. It is a different link from the business school listed above, but still has lots of stanford surveys.

Hello,
Sometime ago you signed-up to receive announcements about paid research studies from the Stanford Graduate School of Business Behavioral Lab. The GSB Behavioral Lab is switching to a new participant and experiment management system and we hope you come with us to the new site! Sona Systems acquired Experimentrak.net a few months ago. Up until now, Sona Systems has allowed us to continue using Experimentrak. On June 30, however, Experimentrak.net will be shut down and replaced with our new Sona Systems site.
If you would like to continue participating in research studies conducted by the GSB Behavioral Lab , you will need to create a participant account on our new site. Creating the account is easy and takes less than 5 minutes. Please visit our new site at http://sgsb2.sona-systems.com. If you register an account before June 30, 2007, you will be entered into a drawing to win 1 of 75, $10 Amazon.com gift cards. (Detailed login information is provided at the bottom of this email.)
Please Note: We are unable to transfer over any information from Experimentrak including the list of your completed studies. If you want to keep this information, we recommend copying it before the Experimentrak.net site shuts down.
We hope you will join us on our new Sona Systems site! Please contact us at behaviorallab@gsb.stanford.edu if you have any questions/concerns
Best,
The GSB Behavioral Lab
thanks issysmom !

I'm relatively new to this, but I've noticed that there have been a few studies like this one that I don't see at all when I log in to Sona. Do they filter what studies show up for certain people based on demographics or past studies completed?

sometimes, like if the study is for females, i've noticed my husband never has them, and the same goes for male studies for me. I also have noticed I never have the college student studies on my page, since I am not a college student. So sometimes, I think they do, i thnk it depends on the researcher, and how good they are using the Sona software

Hello,
When the Behavioral Lab runs an online study, it receives a list of the participants who completed the study. Looking at the list of participants who completed the study “Work Experiences” it appears that you took the study twice. The Behavioral Lab has a policy that prohibits participants from taking the same study more than once. Before we can compensate you for the study, we need to know why you took the study twice.
Best,
The GSB Behavioral
I started the study, but couldn't finish in one sitting, so I had to log back in later. It took me back to the beginning, so I did it over. Has anyone else had this happen to them? I would hate to be banned from their surveys because they think I tried to cheat.

It is a different link from the business school listed above, but still has lots of stanford surveys.

if you have a PayPal account with a debit card attached your cool. Is your payal email the same as the one you signed up for Stanford with?
If not, go to your paypal account, and select add an email, then add it, they will send a link to that email, which you then click on, to prove that you are able to get into all of them.
I had to add my husband because he took a Stanford that paid in PP, and he didn't have an account, so I hooked his to mine, it was only $3 bucks, and he said for me to get him something off Ebay, lol.

are these the point ones and do we avoid those?
points have a meaning -only if - you are a stanford student. students do these surveys for extra credit and the points show the extra credit points that they will get. they have this system to increase student participation. they also have a maximum point limit for stanford students only (you don't want a student to get 100 points and A in class by just doing surveys).
but if you are not a stanford student then points are not relevant.

I just checked the internet studies sign up, here https://cgi.stanford.edu/group/gsb-behlab/cgi-bin/behlab/registration/fp.cgi
and got this message
Thank you for your interest in this study. However, we have already reached the maximum number of subjects budgeted for this project, and cannot run more at this time.
It is possible that we will run more subjects in this study in the future. If so, you will receive another study announcement.
So stay tuned. Oh and you might want to unregister for the in person ones, lol
