i have a quick question too....my other forum is requesting "support" thru their 73,000 plus members by purchasing things thru their website or becoming a sponsor. why does a forum need that much "support". it is also powered by V.bulletin like this one. There are several Webmasters and at least 25 mods.....I can't imagine the boards are their full time jobs. ????
I can't ask that over there because even the mention of the word "retard" will get me flamed by a bunch of people.

some boards, especially with a large number of members and sub-forums require full-time management. To support that, the forum administrators use varying business models - from ad banners to paid memberships.

The same reason Everquest and other online games charge monthly fees. Bandwidth ain't free.
