This sounds like a good deal, except the fine print "Participant agrees to be contacted occasionally with special offers"

Thanks, you are correct. But that's still a lot of stuff for free and no shipping. :bounce:

Wow... can't believe this is a slickdeal... Not because its not a good deal, but I mean talk about a select audience. Anyway my kids don't really watch these dvd's all that much.

Not all deals are universally needed/wanted...

Deal on a snowblower for the many states that do not receive snow?

Also can't you just uncheck the two boxes at the bottom to negate the contacting?

that's a pretty cool freebie....although the fine print says that participant agrees to be contacted occasionally about special offers. i usually just let the answering machine take my calls anyway. rep'd.

I think the unchecking might just be for emails. And they do have good media, doesn't good apply to all? :look:

After checking out the LDSFamilyFun.com (http://www.ldsfamilyfun.com) (the activity book), it looks like there are other free resources there as well.

Ah, nothing like waiving your legal right not to be harassed by the mormons.

Ah, nothing like waiving your legal right not to be harassed by the mormons.

Well, technically Living Scriptures is a small, privately owned Utah corporation. While the owners are of the Mormon faith, it is a private enterprise and not affilated with the Mormon Church.

Quote from the website:
"While much of what we market is to members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS/Mormon church) we hire honest persons of any affiliation who can help us fulfill our mission to Teach Values and Change Lives."

So, you will not not be contacted by Mormon missionaries, but you may be contacted by a salesperson who may or may not be Mormon.

BTW, they have also produced animated videos of the Bible stories and other historical figures.

Proselytizing is not a Slick deal.

Hey! I'm a Mormon! ;o) The "Promised Land" DVD is based on the first book in the Book of Mormon, just so you know.

Proselytizing is not a Slick deal.

Living Scriptures will not try to proselytize, they are a small corporation, privately owned and independent of the Mormon church. While the owners are Mormon, they will employ any honest person of any faith. Now, they will try to sell you their product, which IMO are well produced (several are directed by former Disney animator Richard Rich) and which also include animated stories of the New and Old Testament, and famous histoical figures (such as Abraham Lincoln, Harriet Tubman, Colombus, etc...).

Like it or not this is a "slick deal", especially considering the normal "retail" price for one of their DVD's is $29.99!

Ah, nothing like waiving your legal right not to be harassed by the mormons.

I'm a Mormon and live by the faith, but I'm going to thumbs this deal down because this company will never, ever leave you alone.
[Once again, this is NOT the Mormon missionaries calling you, but a private DVD company]
I got a dvd from them at a state fair one time, and I'm sure they are still calling my old cell phone number. :P Poor sucker who got stuck with my old phone number!!!

No matter how good you think a freebie is or how much you're trying to promote your own religion a freebie should only be posted once in freebies and not again in this section. This thread and this one http://forums.slickdeals.net/showthread.php?sduid=197808&t=1221955 should be merged.

Edited to add: I see it's been merged now.

Great offer - The FHE e-mail is worth it alone (for those of us who are not so creative/too lazy!).

I'm on it!

These guys are in the malls in Utah and are pretty aggressive salesmen. I watched their films as a kid, and while it was entertaining, they aren't very accurate. TU though for a freebie that comes through.

Got this today---along with a note saying they were bombarded ====but are going to send the freebie to everyone in hope of gaining new customers. That SD effect again!
