Amazon just released the amazon kindle application for iPhone - iPod touch. I personally have a kindle2, and just installed the app in my iPod touch. After you download your books, each book open on that last page you were reading. Very cool.
Not sure if this is the right section, to feel free to move it wherever is more appropriate.

Really? How lazy are you?
It's pretty common for a web-based deal to include a link. It's not about being lazy, it's about standard practice.

I love the Kindle and the concept of the instant availability of a huge selection of books, for typically half the price of the paper edition....if I already had an iPhone this would be a great FREE app edition....why all the thumbs down??

Free iPhone app, no reason for thumbs down. Lame.

So if you have the app can you use it to read kindle books without having a kindle or am I mis-reading?

Amazon (http://slickdeals.net/?sdtid=1223245&u2=http://www.amazon.com/The-Jungle-Book/dp/B000JQU7JO/ref=pd_rhf_shvl_10) has a bunch of books for free so you can try it out at no cost.

This is a free app BUT you have to pay for the books you download from the kindle iPhone app (unless they are free ones)

If you search for the tag "Kindle Freebie" it should bring up several that have been tagged as free :)
Edit: For the lazy ;)

i downloaded this last nite. it's pretty cool.
don't have to shell out $300+ for a Kindle. there's give-and-takes tho. iphone will display color, where the kindle won't. Kindle obviously has a bigger screen. On the Kindle, you can order books directly from the Kindle. With the iphone app, you cannot. You have to go to Amazon.com (either on your computer or thru Safari on the iPhone) and purchase. Also, I've read that you can't do magazines/newspapers on the iPhone Kindle app. Only books.
If you happen to have both a Kindle and an iPhone, it gets nicer. If you're reading a book on the Kindle and you bookmark a particular page, you can bring that bookmark up later on your iPhone.
But as far as just the iPhone app, it's still slick if you're into the ebook thing. Small screen but still legible (and you have control over the font size). while it'd be cool to be able to order the books thru the kindle app, I don't consider that too big of a deal.

This makes me want to get an ipod touch now. Maybe when the Kindle's pricing comes down to mainstream levels I'll get one, but right now it isn't worth $400

Has anyone gotten this to download onto their Ipod Touch? I just downloaded the app and for some reason it's not showing up on my ipod. I wonder if it's solely for IPhone... don't see why they'd do that though. hmmmmm

I got it to work on my iPod touch. You have to wait a bit to download one of the books from your kindle account. Sadly, the sample chapters do now appear there...
I will probably use the app to read my books where there is no light to use my kindle.

I didn't see anyone mention this so I just wanted to add another e-book reader.
I'd recommend Stanza (http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewSoftware?id=284956128&mt=8)for reading e-books. Many free ones especially through Project Gutenburg
