Haven't played around much on this site, but it seems as though an extremely large percentage of deals are for products that are pretty similar. For example, there are a ton of Dell 700m and PowerEdge SC420 threads, etc. These deals, however, often expire quickly. It would be functionally useful for SD to assign these items a unique identifier that could then be used to flag future posts for e-mail notifications. For example, if I want the 700m, but the deal has expired, I could click a link that would automatically notify me the next time the 700m is posted on the site. You could even set it up such that there are price paramaters such as 700m, but only if it is < $750.

"Coded deals" would be very unweildy to administer.

Someone would have to volunteer to monitor every deal coming through and accurately assign it a unique code. Are you vounteering? :D :D :D

Also, many people are watching for a group of deals, or don't even know exactly what models they'd want until they see the deal.

Use the RSS feed if you need to watch for deals.

just my $0.02.

not to mention the exact same deal is seldom offered more than once. The same model PC may not be the same price, or may have a different configuration from a previous posted deal, like require inclusion of a printer, or lack of a drive.

Too complicated IMO
