If you own an iPhone, you will be able to upgrade for free starting in June. iPod Touch users will have to pay $9.95 for the new OS :eek: There are some features that are long overdue that are coming in the new OS. I personally like the "Turn-by-turn directions. Developers will also be able to create turn-by-turn applications using the GPS information from the iPhone and combining it with their own maps, without depending on 3G connectivity or Google." which means you will soon be able to get a program that turns the iPhone into a true standalone GPS unit saving you money from buying one from Garmin or TomTom :)

Some features like MMS will not work on 1G even after upgrade.

Also, the ipod touch $10 update will also unlock bluetooth.

F#%K apple and Steve. I just paid 250+ for an ipod touch and I m going to Jailbreak it. Why paying if you could get anything for free.

I paid $350 for my black 8gig iphone 3g from a local chinese cellphone shop. He unlocked and jailbroken it for me so i could use it with my prepaid T-Mobile and never have to get tied into the long 2 years contract which requires you to purchase a data plan from AT&T. I think it's a good deal. What do you guys think? Unfortunately, I have to wait until the hackers unlocked and jailbroken this new 3.0 software before upgrading it :(
BTW, it's interesting how Apple put the bluetooth chip inside the iPod touch and never activated it until this up coming 3.0 software upgrade?? Did they do that intentionally so they could force the iPod touch users folk out almost $10 just to have this stereo bluetooth feature enable on their unit??? crazy business practice if you ask me.

I just p'd one up and plan on doing same thing. So their prepaid phones come with the SIM?

You're able to use everything else on the phone as normal? What are you doing for data?
