How to receive a credit without a coupon.
***YMMV*** This worked for me on 12/15/08. I was in need of a $25 off $75 coupon, but nobody had any available. So, I hopped on Staples.com and did the live chat with a CSR. I inquired if they were able to provide me with a coupon code. The CSR said that they do not replace lost or used codes. She asked if I was going to order today, and I said yes. Next, she asked for the order total. I said, $122.99. She said that as long as my order was over $100, that she could apply a $15 credit towards the order. While this wasn't as good as a $25 coupon, it was better than nothing. I simply had to place the order and provide her with the order #. Once I did, she applied the credit, and she said it would appear on the credit statement. She even sent the following email as confirmation:

STAPLES competitor coupon acceptance policy

STAPLES retail stores accept printed, mailed or circular/newspaper coupons from other competing office supply and electronics retailers. Known retailers are: Office Depot, OfficeMax, Circuit City, Best Buy, Microcenter and Fry's among others.

Acceptance is by manager discretion according to how "local" the competitor store is (another state may not be accepted), but according to corporate the policy is firm.
If you have a valid coupon from a competitor for an item they stock, it should be accepted under their price match policy. If you encounter a clerk who doesn't know of the policy, take the issue to the manager, and if even she/he doesn't know (happens) feel free to note his/her name and the store number (usually at the top of a receipt). Then call the Staples "Office Of The President" toll free number. As we all know, the Staples Reward program basically sucks at this point. Unless you are buying ink, toner or paper, you get nothing. So, take a look around to see if you can click thru from another site and earn yourself some miles or points. I put mine thru using the Northwest (soon to be Delta) WorldPerks mall. Only earns 1 mile per dollar spent, but it keeps your airline account active for expiration of miles. So, I only earned a couple hundred miles, but I got another 2 years to earn more miles before any drop off. Works for me!

American airlines doesn't do staples nor does MyPoints, they both do Office Depot. Not familiar with their rewards programs though I think technology doesn't count there either so keep this in mind for them as well. Northwest has all 3 office supply stores as well as Best Buy and others.

You could use one $30 off $150 and one free item with $100 purchase coupon, for example.

My Staples locations won't take competitor coupons, only match ads. Now if CC would match price and take coupon, that would work.

If you have Paypal account, you can buy one @ those coupon sellers like ejunkie, on some of the post they said it's $2.22 and they worked.
If you don't, then I guess you don't need to sign up on Paypal just for this:shake: which I don't. I just don't have use for it since I don't shop @ ebay and I just don't want to give them my personal info like SSN:D
