I am NOT accusing the earlier poster...
but I get a feeling a few newbies are starting to drop comments in some threads, just to get some post credits. We have had a lot new folks in the Old Navy Deal Chat thread lately. They don't get credit for posts there & some SDers are only offering Qs to established members.
yeah - a couple things:
1) I think it was rude for someone to stir the pot and fuel the fire while I was busy and:
2) Post credits and $1 will get you what in life? A cup of borscht -- we've got that now.
Oooo Now I have 2 campaigns. Borscht and Wiki! Where are the chat cards for them?
bzz me on the wiki campaign!

AWwww Moonie you know I wouldn't leave you out in the cold. I picked up another bottle of tequila. No way one was going to be enough.
I think that if someone has to be led by the hand through all the information in the wiki, and then the Bzz site... they're never going to *get it*. Why join up if you have NO CLUE as to what BzzAgent is all about in the first place???????? For all you know you might have just signed away the rights to your next 3 children. COME ON people. Since when is it the smart thing to do; to sign up for something you have NO IDEA as to what it is or how it works?????
Do I need to wipe out the wiki as it is and start over at the preschool level with it? Seriously... I will do it if that is what it is going to take to avoid these kinds of things that "stir the pot". I will bleach out the current wiki and write a complete "Beginners Guide to Bzz Agent" if someone thinks it needs to be done.

You shouldn't feel about asking questions and neither should anyone else. There are lots of us that are more than willing to answer your questions. Just like all the other threads on SD, this thread is for every one, new and old. All of you are welcome and please don't be scared off by a few.

Oh honey... I've got a couple cases of wine from my fave winery and a fully stocked liquor cabinet... C'mon over!!
Sorry if I stirred a pot, will not ask questions anymore
Questions are good. In fact, questions are great. Without questions, there are no answers and the world would be in chaos. :whee:
I believe that what the previous posts were mentioning were "repeats" of the "same" questions. For example, (and just as an "example") if someone were to ask about any "new" campaigns when the 12 posts preceeding were posters coming to mention the "new" campaigns that they're "just" getting into. The thread gets to moving very quickly when a new campaign comes up and in addition to posting here, a LOT of the regulars help eachother out by sending pm's, e/mails, calling etc. Taking the time to read the "above" posts when posting could mean an extra 30 seconds that the person answering could be making sure that someone else is checking their bzz account to get into that campaign that everyone is talking about.
Now, if anyone has any question at all about any of the campaigns I'm currently in... (listed in my siggy) I'll be more than happy to share the bzz love...

Yikes!
I remember being new and this thread had an explosion and it kinda freaked me out.
Over the course of the past year I've seen it happen enough to know that it "just does".
The sad thing is we don't know who is reading this, who we are turning away from the great people here and the awesome people that "usually" exists here.
While there may be nothing beyond L6, there are some great things about being part of this thread.
Tee...what good is it seriously going to do to rewrite the WIKI? It's not that folks don't understand it, it's that they aren't looking either because 1.) They don't know about it 2.)They don't want to.
We just need to learn to accept everyone...or use the "ignore" option. :hugs:
moongazebo
04-21-2009, 02:28 AM
Ahhhh - don't rewrite the wiki--- if people don't look, they don't look.
Something I do even though I've been on this board for years is always click the "view last read" button so I don't miss any posts as to what campaigns there have been or what feedback there has been. If you always do that, you don't miss anything. Don't just go to the last page of posts.
The conundrum that the regulars face is not answering questions -- we love to talk! It's the double edged sword of if we ignore the repeat questions that are easily discernable, we get blasted for being unfriendly and reported to the mods. We have an unfortunate rep on these boards as being uninviting. However, you can imagine how exhausting and frustrating it can be to reanswer questions over and over again that are easily found either in the wiki or ummmm, two posts up.
As far as aquainting one's self with bzzagent - that's the best way to become an expert - trial and error.

In my experience, the keys don't help out all that much. I'm at level six and I rarely have a key. It still seems like I get offered most of the campaigns. I don't know for sure but it seems like if I have a key, then every campaign requires it. Once I use it, I still get offered the same campaigns but as early invites. :dontknow:
My sister is a level 2 or 3. We both get in almost the same amount of campaigns. I probably only get a few more than her. She occasionally gets a campaign that I don't get offered.

The keys have helped me get into a few good campaigns. In fact every time I earn one back they offer me something to use it on
The last key I used was in the Natures Source and that was definitely worth it!

This thread gets very mean fairly often. I am not new to bzz, nor am I new to Sd, despite my low post count. It really makes me sad to come in here and see people being jumped for asking questions, time after time. If you don't want to answer a question, couldn't the post just be ignored? Slamming people and saying read the wiki hurts feelings, even if you are sick of the questions. Either the question won't get answered, or someone who doesn't mind answering, will answer it. Much nicer imo. Some people really don't understand what the wkiki is. I know my sister was one of them. I explained it, but even after reading it, it just confused her. I made sure she knew not to post any questions here though, as it would have really upset her to be slammed like happens here. She found another board where they don't get so upset over questions, instead of taking a chance of being slammed here.

Very well said. When I made my first post (which was about a free sample of soap,)almost every reply was mean, like "I'll make you some butt soap." What the heck did I do to deserve that? I then later got blasted for saying something about a hot deal, that it wasn't really for me but glad others were getting a good deal out of it, and someone said "go thread bash somewhere else." I can understand how it would seem that people just join SD and then expect everything to be handed to them and not have to search or work for it, but I think for the most part SD can be really inimidating to newbies, especially when other members jump all over you for seemingly no reason. I guess I am still new enough that I am still learning, too, and questions don't bother me that much. Nor do mistakes or reposts. But don't get me started on people who order 20 of something free......:lmao:

I think you are dead wrong about this particular thread and think you are taking what people post incorrectly. If someone asks a question, I don't see anything wrong with someone else responding with "check the wiki", if the answer is posted there. Especially since the same questions get asked over and over in this thread, hence the whole reason for the wiki in the first place. You'd really expect someone to waste their time typing out a long response to your question, when it's already answered in the wiki?
These gals who frequent this thread are some of the nicest people, in my opinion.

I agree, a lot of people who post on this board (outside of this thread) can be VERY rude. If someone says something inappropriate, MOD alert them and move on. That's all you can do. Or stop posting and be a lurker

I read that thread and 1 person said something about "butt soap"...to which you responded with a bit of a smart-ass reply that wasn't really necessary either. So it goes both ways. In this thread if you tell people to "read the wiki" they often times fire back with nastiness...so it goes both ways.

Yes, this is so true. If you do not want to answer the question nicely, move on. Why spend the time doing something negative if you can spend the same amount of time helping someone. I have seen cases where someone had a question and they were asked to check the wiki, and the question/subject was not even there! Many times a question may seem like a no brainer for people familiar with the subject, but if you are new, you will have all kinds of questions. In general yes, people should spend time checking the information/FAQ'S etc. before asking general questions if possible.
MissyMooMoo

So...maybe we should add to the wiki :
It's okay to gently let people know that they can find answers to many of the general questions in the wiki. If a poster asks a question that you find boring or tedious, it is acceptable for you to ignore the question and let someone else help the poster.

.....and posts that flame, troll, insult, etc. will be removed. This thread is meant to help one another. I love all of my Bzzy friends. All of ya. I may not get a chance to post in here much, but I do read and I don't like to see that some folks are feeling frustrated and some folks are feeling insulted. Let's please try and keep this thread on topic. If someone has a question, refer them to the Wiki, or refer them to another member who may have the answer if you don't know it. Or if you do know it, help them. Or, don't, if you don't want to! But please....don't argue. It does nothing to help the thread.

I felt the same way until I got four campaigns in succession. Unfortunately you just kind of have to do your froggies and see what happens. It stinks, but that's the way it is. They look for certain demographics and you either fit them or you don't.

I think asking questions is fine, but I also think that answering "check the wiki" is fine as well. That IS what the wiki is for, right? I do not know that rewriting it will help . . . but I encourage anyone who wants to change it to do so.

I would love the sonicare one as well for my son and his lack of saliva gland thing and how much we brush his teeth. I joined bzz right after that campaign and missed it. I think it is toothpaste though. Does anyone remember who had the tooth brush poll before if it was like this survey? You would think it would ask if you used manual or power TB if it was for that :(

I think it is toothpaste though. Does anyone remember who had the tooth brush poll before if it was like this survey? You would think it would ask if you used manual or power TB if it was for that :(
I remember getting a toothbrush survey 6 months or more before being invited to the Sonicare campaign. To the best of my recollection it did ask about manual vs. power toothbrushes.

This one was based on location. If you didn't live near the store you couldn't do the campaign, because you actually had to go into one of the stores.

You should bzz the product honestly. Not every product is for everyone. BzzAgent just expects you to be honest. It's okay to tell someone you don't like something and why.

Always be honest. There have been a few products I have had VERY negative Bzz about. It has never affected my reviews, points, or status. I look through other reports sometimes and see what I know have got to be total BS reports... people just gushing about something, for example, that a huge part of us here were very negative about. Being truthful is what the companies want. Yes, of course they would all like to think we're going to fall all over ourselves to run out and buy their product... but they also want to know what we don't like about things so they can possibly change something if it might need it. We're advertising for them, not testing products before market. They've already put a lot of money into whatever the item or service is... sometimes I think by the time they're using Bzz, if it's not a new product, they're having slow sales and want to know why. Other times they are new products, like the Glade soy candles. We've all seemed to like them but the selection is very limited and while they try to convince us they're an inexpensive alternative to "boutique candles", they still aren't inexpensive enough that I am going to buy them without a sale and very good coupons. That is the kind of thing they need to know.

By then I will have moved up my 2 honeycombs and have my key, which I would gladly take a tooth campaign for :)
We got one when our kids had braces and they were great... once braces were off, not so great. Flossing still works better if you don't have a mouth full of metal!

That is correct. i got in that campaign and waiting to receive the discount. If im correct its suppose to be 50%off and dont recall anything else to be sent along with it. What im hoping for is that some are already on sale and the 50% can be put with the sale discount price. Ilori are designer sunglasses and usually are very expensive.

stop using it and write a bzz report about it. you can still give out coupons because it may be something good for someone else. if you're talking about the loreal revitalift -- I have used it many times and sometimes it does break you out when you first start using it...but then a couple days later you're fine....

I had this happen with Aveeno. It is still a good brand for many folks though, so I still passed out my samples/coupon. I told people of my issue when I gave them the sample. My sister loved the stuff, so I gave her my full size jar and submitted a report telling them that.

Because the company probably has buttloads of them sitting in a warehouse and they need to get rid of them. I was seeing them all over the place, including Big Lots, right after the first campaign for them... for around the same price they offered them to the agents. Other people saw them as well and I think we kinda realized that they were just trying to get rid of them. Some people did find good use for it as a DVD player.

I just turned down the Gamewave myself. When I answered the survey as to why I turned it down, I let the know that there were a couple of reasons.
I do not like to pay to buzz, HOWEVER, if it were something I really liked and thought that I was being given a really good price...then I would have not problem.
As a family, we love to play video games, but this one I found at Job Lot for $24.99, with all of the accessories listed. I do not feel that this is a good deal in any way, in fact...it is a bit of a rip off. I know that bzzagent would not knowingly rip off it's agents, I really believe that this company needs to be looked at a little closer.
Had this been a WII product for a really good price, I would have no problem, but I am not going to pay full price for a product that I am being asked to buzz and write reports for.
Well, whether or not they take these points into consideration, atleast I got it off my chest....:P

I have a GameWave invite as well. I don't think Was offered it the first time around but I honestly cannot remember for sure. Or maybe I just blocked it out. Here is what they say about the *new* offer:
"The makers are offering a Game Wave system, 6 controllers and 3 family-friendly games for under $30! (Thanks to Agent feedback, our friends at Game Wave were able to create a different, yet equally fun, offer for you!)."
The part about "thanks to agent feedback" just totally cracks me up.

Not quite in those words..., because I have paid for campaigns in the past and had no problem being asked to do so. I turned this one down with the explanation that I have no desire to pay more for a campaign than what I see this system selling for elsewhere at discount stores. Also that my kids are older teens and I just really don't know that we'd get any use out of it or be able to buzz it at all.
Everyone has the right, of course, to turn down a campaign that requires pay. However, I think it should not be your sole reason for turning it down. This particular one is simply, in my opinion, not worthy of my time as a Bzz agent and I cannot believe they are taking this one on yet again. The company is giving up NOTHING for this; they are offering a product we KNOW we can find elsewhere for less... if they sell any of these via BzzAgent to the agents, they are making money. This is costing them nothing but whatever their fees are to BzzAgent. I find that rather reprehensible. I might as well just go out and buy things at retail price and then go around talking them up and generate sales for the company; that is essentially what they are expecting us to do with this thing. And yes of course sometimes we do that when we find something we really like but this thing? Not gonna happen.

Just got to level 6. Had my second Lame Wave invite. Am 99% sure I'll turn it down, but wondered if there was anything to recommend it at all. ( I don't have any kind of game system, but did like the old school Atari from my youth.)
Also have two gold keys, one from the sale that expires in May. Any thoughts on the likelihood of being offered something to use it on? (Much less something worth using it, rather than doing so not to waste it.) I'd trade it for a free crappy game system;)
Bzzing Loreal, Glade, and Take Care Clinic
Some people did join the campaign for it because it is also a DVD player. So if you've got kids who might be at least mildly interested in it, and want an extra DVD player, go for it. Even though you can get DVD players for around that price anyway, consider that this one is also a video game system of sorts, so it's a bonus.

The mysteries of transparency! (I mean, as if - after over a year, we hadn't figured out that they hadn't figured it out!):vomit:
At least now we know for sure and hopefully since so many of us are Sweet Bees they'll get on it and create a level 7!

It's not worth $30. It only functions at a mediocre level as a DVD player. Compared to the Wii and Xbox, it's lousy as a gaming system.

I got early invite on sunblock too. I am level 5 and my baby will be 3 in June.
I also took the GameWave offer. It is $20 less than before, and I have more money now than the last time it was offered. I am actually happy they offered it to me again, despite my turning it down in the past. Dh and I love to have game night with our older kids. They do have a Playstation, but this looks much different. Looks more like the type of board games we like to play, but the kids will like that it is an electronic game. We get tired of sitting on the wood chairs at the table on game night night too. We can sit in our comfy spots in the living room for this one.

Everything's relative. My mother would get a kick out of playing this with my 10 year old. She wouldn't have the money, time, or inclination to buy a Wii or Xbox for just when the kids come over, KWIM?

It may really be a gamble though. There were serious quality control issues with the previous couple of campaigns for the Gamewave. People couldn't get a hold of the manufacturer for resolving problems. The company is out of Canada which slowed down exchanges. That and Bzz is selling (?) it for more than other retailers.
$30? Maybe. Any more? No way.

It was just outside of their "warranty" period. It functions barely as a DVD player, but sometimes it just opens randomly, or doesn't, depending on the day/time.
I'm not in this current version of the campaign but I remember very clearly reading about other Bzzagents having serious issues with their systems in the previous campaign, not being able to open the door, not being able to contact the customer service. Maybe it was a bad couple of batches and they've fixed things now. :/

I was offered it with a key this morning too and also turned it down. It was mostly because I don't have babies or toddlers, and don't know anyone else who I could buzz it to. I am two combs away from another key and will have it soon as I can do some frogs and get started on the John Frieda campaign... but mostly, just don't think I could buzz the sunblock very well.

Got the Neutrogena with a key. I took it even though I don't have little ones. As an adult I'm very picky about my sunscreen and have always wondered if the kid ones worked better as far as greasyness and sensitive skin. This was a good way to test that. And I have nephews and friends with kiddos so I can bzz to them too.

I got offered the Baby Neutrogena sunblock without a key so I accepted -- but I don't have any kids, and neither do most of my friends.
So... anyone who wants a sample and/or coupon when I get the kit, PM me with your name and address :) I only ask that you send me some feedback so I can submit a Bzz report.... it doesn't need to be long and drawn-out, just a few sentences is fine.
I sent out 5 L'Oreal samples and only 1 person sent me feedback, so I'm hoping I'll have better luck with this campaign.

I used my last key up on John Frieda, but the offers just keep coming in. I will not get another key for 7 more combs. It will be interesting to see if if I get just as many offers without a key, as when I have one (or more). It seems like when I have keys, most of my offers take a key. I was offered the baby sunblock with no key (after I had used my last one), which was a shock. While I do have a baby, it was the first time I ever got a baby offer. I currently have 6 campaigns and that has never happened in the 5 years I have been an agent.

Best you can do is read the national reports for a couple of days and click on your area. Gives you an idea, although not always a perfect idea. Like in my case, St Louis is in MO but it is considere a "Metro" area with a small part of IL across the river. An alcohol campaign may not be available to MO but may be in IL and if I click on my area of the map I may see a report for the alcohol and wonder why I didn't get it. So yeah it can give you an idea not not a full "list".

I did the glade post campaign, and got 30 points and a honeycomb....dont know what fragrance survey everyones talking about..:scratchh:
the campaign was for The Fragrance Collection by Glade ..I think maybe that is the confusion.
Going back for 2  eye surveys listed for me.

Ok one down one to go... did the post Glade survey and now just need one more comb for a key, which I can do with frogs. Gives me a little breathing room but then if I use one one something mediocre, I will agonize over the last one ever time I get asked to use it. The next key is sooooo far away!

Did anyone who wears contacts take the eye survey? I'm wondering if you go to your own md or you have to go to theirs. Also, if it's our md - do they pay for the visit?
I did. It sounds like you go to your own Doctor (and probably have to pay for the office visit). You order the initial 3 months of contacts then and they rebate the cost. Then you order 3 more months with no out of pocket and they mail them to your house. Basically, 6 months of contacts for a $10 (for me anyway) office visit. Hope I get it! (beats GameWave!)

I use Acuvue Oasys contacts and am due for an eye exam May 12th, so this would be perfect. I get the impression it's a rebate for 3 months, then another 3 months free. Eye exam not included...I think my last contacts exam was about $70-75, not covered by my insurance...shitty coverage.

Thanks - my exam is months away and my md charges me over $100 per visit. Oh well - I'll have to think about this one - thanks

Me too!!!:omg:
Don't like wearing bug spray, or just want an additional way to keep mosquitoes at a distance? Try new OFF!® Clip-On™ mosquito repellent — clip it to your belt or bag and it forms a mosquito-free and odorless bubble around you. Or for groups, there's OFF!® PowerPad® Lamp to protect 225 square feet (an average size patio). Either way, you get spray-free and lab-proven protection you can trust!
Unobtrusive OFF!® Clip-On™ mosquito repellent uses a quiet little fan to circulate a unique and odorless repellent.
OFF!® Clip-On™ mosquito repellent uses disk refills, so there's no liquid to spill.
OFF!® PowerPad® Lamp does the work of 15 citronella candles, and is safer than an open flame.

Just got the Off campaign. I had just logged out, nothing was there, and went to FB and had notice there of it. So it popped up in my account in the two seconds it took me to log out and get to FB.
I hope they're sending the lamps or at least some really really good coupons! We use those all summer; we don't have a huge problem with mosquitos but they sure keep the flies away. The refills for that thing are kinda expensive; I try and stock up at Target when they go on clearance but I must have missed them last time.
No email yet at all... so again....
DON'T RELY ON EMAIL INVITES!!!!!

It was in the eye care survey. Seems to be aiming for people who wear Acuvue currently? No campaign yet. Could be interesting...

Got my John Freida kit today!
I do have a question for those of you that got it, I know I marked "normal" as my hair type, but they sent me shampoo/conditioner for "dry" hair. Is everyone getting that type? I hope it doesn't weigh my hair down too much and make it greasy.

Got the eye care survey, but no off. (L5)
Although mosquitos are bad where I am, not bad enough to use my newly earned key. W/o a key I would definitely accept, but in the next year I'm sure there will be something I can use my key on more exciting than mosquito repellent.
