I received this email today:
This email confirms that Center for Research on Environmental Decisions has sent $8.00 USD to your account.
To accept this payment, log in to the PayPal website and click the Accept button next to this transaction.
I have a personal paypal account-no business account to sell. Never purchased anything using paypal or taken cash out. I have just a small sum sitting there.
When I went to accept my payment there will be a 53 cent charge. I have never had money taken out of a survey payment before.
When I clicked the accept button -the money did not go into my account. I clicked details and it had something about contacting the buyer  How do I get the money into my account?
ANY HELP will be greatly appreciated.

The only thing I can think of is that our PayPal account is set to "Ask Me" for payments from customer who do not provide a verified shipping address.

how much money have you made? and is it a personal or business acount.
on personal accounts, after you make a certain amount, they take out money. if you have a business account (you get more than $500 a month) they take a fee out of your money each time.
but basically that's the typical fee they charge after you hit a certain amount

It depends on what the person sending you money is registered as. I think a single person it takes some from yours, and if it's a business they are charged and you get the full amount

Only place I've ever been charged a fee is when getting survey payments from Kimberly Rios "OSU". Not too sure why but I've stopped taking their surveys because of that!

Thanks for the information!
I think there was fees because the payment was paid using a debit or credit card. First time this has ever happened for a survey. The final amount accessed was 73  cents. Received $7.27 for a $8 survey. Still worth it!

Sometimes they take money from survey companies and some time they don't. I don't know why, but it's still extra play money thst I wouldn't have. some companies only pay by paypal. But it's deposited inyour account fast.

I used to have a home business so my paypal account gets charged around 2% for deposits from sources other than my bank account.
It was so much easier than having bounced checks, I can just log in, email a bill and they just go through paypal to pay it.

um just noticed something... apparently Paypal took out a fee of .53 cents. So its really only $7.47.
now WHY is there a fee for receiving this money?

Maybe if everyone posted what kind of Paypal account they have it could clear things up.
I have 2 Paypal accounts one that I opened in 06 to get paid for surveys and etc. which is a Personal account. Then I have a Premier account that I opened in 01 which started out as a Personal account and somehow it got upgraded to Premier over time. Since the older one is a Premier account I only use it to pay for things online, because I remember reading that Premier accounts and higher get charged fees that personal accounts don't.

Thank you Diamonique! Apparently I have a premiere account. I had no idea that there was more than one type. I opened it probably around 03 so from what you're saying it makes sense. Weird thing is that I have never had a fee when I get paid from pinecone research. I dont see why I am being charged though, I barely ever use paypal. I guess I will create another personal account one for surveys seeing how i just started doing a bunch online. Thank you for letting me know!!!!

Have a personal paypal account and got charged a fee from the $8 survey too.
Others have stated it depends upon how the researcher paid (by credit card) or if they are verified or not. I was charged $.74. Don't know why the fee was different but I read others being charged and they also were charged different amounts.

Thank you for contacting PayPal Customer Support.
Hi Kim, my name is Michelle, and I checked your account and see that
there was indeed a receiving fee charged for the payment you received.
Kim, in this case, what happened here is that the sender of the payment
clicked on the commercial tab instead of the personal tab on the payment
page. What can be done here is to refund the payment back to the sender
and have him re-send the payment making sure that he is clicking on the
personal tab for you not to incur any fee.
We have recently updated our fees structure. There are now two different
types of payments that can be sent using PayPal - Purchase Payments and
Personal Payments.
Let me explain these new payment types a bit further.
* Purchase Payments (Commercial Payments): These are the payments we
traditionally have always offered, where there is a commercial
relationship between the sender and the recipient of funds. For example,
a person pays for a purchase of an item on eBay.
* Personal Payments: These payments are designed as payments between
individuals for no commercial reasons, i.e. made for the purpose of
either your personal, family and/or household affairs.
For example, a person living in the UK is sending money to his brother
to buy their
parents a gift.
When using the 'Send Money' tab, customers will be presented with the
two different options to send either a Purchase payment or a Personal
payment.
As a result of the introduction of this new payment revamp, our fee
structure has changed to accommodate these two new payment types.
Fees for Personal Payments are now charged as follows:
* Payment funded with PayPal balance or bank account: PayPal will
not charge sender or recipient regardless of their account type
* Payment funded with a debit or credit card: PayPal will apply the
2.9%+$0.30 for each payment received.
Therefore, Personal account holders may incur PayPal receiving fees.
Please note however that the sender has the option of paying the fees
for that payment instead of the recipient.
For Purchases/Commercial Payments there will be fees applied every time
payment is received. The recipient of funds will always be charged the
normal receiving fees (or merchant rates for approved merchants reaching
the minimum volumes) for 2.9%+$0.30.
Thank you for using PayPal for your online payment needs.

Thanks for the info. I'm going to email Paypal and ask why I was charged more than $.54 cents.
