I remember awhile back there was a website that you could enter a coupon UPC code into and it would tell you all the products that the coupon would work on without beeping. For example -- might have been a Kellogg cereal coupon that would also work for Poptarts, etc.

Does anyone know the website?

Agreed...coupon fraud! By misusing a coupon, you're really just hurting us all. Eventually companies will stop putting out decent coupons and they'll be no savings to be had at all. Cashiers treat people who use coupons with enough suspicion already, do you really need to add to it? If a coupon says it's for "$1 off Kellogg's Cereals 12 oz or larger" then guess what? That means it's for KELLOGGS CEREALS 12OZ OR LARGER. Not pop tarts, not toilet paper, just KELLOGGS CEREAL 12 OZ OR LARGER!

It it really that hard to understand?

Use the coupon for what it is intended for.

We all don't have larceny in our hearts, I have had coupons that take off less than what the coupon says on its face. I use it to verify that it matches.

:iagree: :iagree: To be honest I had never heard of what the original OP was talking about, so I googled it and found the info. There is info everywhere for using coupons fraudulently, even right here on slickdeals!!! (If that's what your looking for, and I'm not), but that kind of info is not JUST used for fraud!! I found a coupon yesterday that said $1 off but it was coded for 75 cents!!

I apologize if I have offended anyone who has a legitimate use for such resources, but that did not seem to be the OP's intent. OP posted "I remember awhile back there was a website that you could enter a coupon UPC code into and it would tell you all the products that the coupon would work on without beeping. Which implies he/she is attempting to find out if they can use a coupon for a product other than the text states. This is fraud. If you need to verify an amount and you're purchasing the correct item -- fine. I have no problems with that. Our of curiosity I did visit the site myself and question it's accuracy. Many of the coupons I put in there came up totally different than what the print reads.

Welcome to SD. I see you've belonged for a while, but not had a lot to contribute. Take some time, look around, enjoy the site, and remember - you can't control other people's actions, you can only control your own. If you don't like a post/thread/whatever....move on. There's plenty more to look at, but I don't think we need any more casters of stones here.

If there is a post or a thread that advocates or promotes coupon fraud, you better believe i'll cast as many stones as needed to get them to shut their mouth. That kind of shit hurts everyone in the long run by giving couponers in general a bad name.

Forgot what I was buying the other day (actual item that was pictured on the coupon). When the cashier scanned it for some reason it rang up .75 cents off when it actually read .50 cents off. She looked at it weird, then looked at me & asked me to verify that the coupon actually says .50 cents off (confused myself, uh..yeah...) b/c she said it was scanning .75 cents off instead. I've never had that happen to me before with a coupon. :O

At a local grocery store here (Rainbow/Roundy's) a cashier actually told me that the coupons are programmed to be accepted for nearly anything that is the correct brand. The store just mails them into the manufacturer and gets credit anyway - I don't think the store really cares!

another cashier that doesnt know what she/he is talking about...stores do care...in order for a store to be reimbursed for say $1/1 kellogs smart start cereal, they have to sell kelloggs smart start cereal...but say that coupon is coded to work on any kelloggs cereal and you use it on frosted flakes because they dont sell smart start cereal. the store will not get reimbursed for the coupon because they dont sell the product...

so yes stores do care...especially when coupons are scanned/printed like the recent purina and reynolds and free velveeta. the stores accepted those and now they are not getting reimbursed by the company....
