How do I turn [IMG] code ON when I post?

When I try to post an image, all I get are links :crying:

You don't have any control over that. Images are only allowed in certain areas of the board.

I may have answered my own question...

It looks like [IMG] code is OFF in the hot deals forum, but ON in the Lounge. I was trying to post a deal, and include the coupon from the site as an included [IMG].gif[/ IMG]

we want to save the deal forums for people on dialup and other methods of checking the site. you can still put the link to the image/attach it

Well, I was simply going to link to an externally hosted image, so I'd have no control over the size.

How about a restricted maximum image size in those forums (or would that create more problems than it would solve)?
It would be silly to restrict image size, when it's really the filesize that affects bandwidth. Also, there's already a user option to control whether you get thumbnails or normal sized images, and it defaults to thumbnails.

Uh, is image size related to filesize?
Only in part. Filesize is directly proportional to image size and color depth, and it's also affected by compression algorithm.
