View Full Version : Is it prohibited to include fatwallet links in post?

After I posted a new deal, everything about fatwallet was immediately and automatically removed from the title/content.
I tried to find a rule about this on SD, but didn't see any.
Therefore, I wonder if we are allowed or not to post something about fatwallet on SD.

You can post any deal that is on FW on SD if allowed by SD rules. However, don't include the FW link. You can always give credit to the FW user though.

We're reasonable on allowing some links to our competitors but keep in mind that we're not here to drive traffic/revenue to them. Deals will be shared amongst sites and that is perfectly acceptable. :)

It's in the main site FAQ, but it is kind of buried:
http://forums.slickdeals.net/faq.php?faq=slickdeals_legal#faq_slickdeals_rules

"Additional rules:

12. Please refrain from mentioning or linking competitive sites. If the site is censored, do not post that site."

As wuzzy says though, you can post the deal link, itself, and just give credit to the FW user who originally posted it. Something like: "Great Deal xyz for $1 at (link to deal). Thanks user123 at FW." :)

Can't we all get along? I don't want a repeat of the SD-FW riots of the 1990s.

What if FW had some exclusive coupon that you could only activate by going through their site? It has to exist sometimes.

That would not be allowed.

Why? The site is about deals, period - not politics. Frankly if Mr. SD doesn't like us linking to FW for cashback, why doesn't he swing some cashback his way? I'd imagine it's very doable. He already does referral links.

I've had a few cashback references deleted so I have to resort to "cashback if you know where to find it, WINK WINK" How.... adolescent is that - that I have to dance around something that everyone knows about just because they're the "other" site?

If SD had cashback & FW didn't, I doubt they'd let people link to our site. And as Mr. SD put it, we aren't here to promote other deal sites.

Just look at this forum. Many bug reports going back 4/6/12 months or more. There are just no changes visible. Even behind the scenes changes on stuff like search have obviously not worked well for a lot of people.

If you're making changes, people would appreciate knowing what you're doing.
