Welcome to the Cub Foods thread!!! All deals, ads, and coupon match-ups are welcome!

Welcome to the Cub Foods thread, please read the Wiki before asking questions, it might just be answered here!
A. Policies
- Coupons
Most Cub Foods stores will take expired coupons (manufacture only!) up to three months (90 days) after expiration. The following Cub stores are exceptions: Hastings & Eden Prairie (5 months), St. Cloud (does not accept expired coupons). Cambridge Cub accepts expired coupons up to 60 days.
If you do not have a Cub Foods near you, but you do have an awesome coupon that expired on you, this is the place to trade or pass it on!
- Out of stock store coupons
If a product in the store is on sale, or has a coupon, but they do not have any in stock, ask your cashier for a rain check. You'll then be able to come back any time within the next 30 days and get that item at sale price.
- Checks
Checking policies vary from store to store (it is greatly dependent on the type of neighborhood it's in). This policy is generally VERY strict to prevent people from using fake checks/checks from non-existent accounts.
First 1-3 times you use a check from a new checking account you'll be asked for an ID. The ID must not be expired, and must have a matching name/address to the one on the check. If it is a small amount (<$30), then generally they will ignore the rule and let you slide with a different address.
No cash back on first 1-3 checks. Maximum amount of $125 on first 1-3 checks (can be overridden by CSM if they don't think you're trying to scam them).
After that, you are in the system. From then on ID is not required for checks, just simply hand it to the cashier and go bag! You can then get cash back (varies GREATLY on location, Brookdale is $10 maximum, other places $25 and even $50). Maximum is then $300 per check, but again this can be overridden by a CSM.
Out of state checks are not accepted. Depending on the location (in the ghetto, they're more strict on this), you may be asked why you're shopping there if the address on your check is >40-50 miles away from the store. Travels checks are not accepted as of a few months ago.
- Credit/debit cards
If you don't want to pay for the full total on a single credit card, tell them this ahead of time! If you slide your card through and they hit the button, your credit card is charged BEFORE you sign!
If you slide the card through and it says "Please wait" instead of asking for your PIN, then you are one of the unfortunate banks that can't be used as debit (TCF is notorious for this). You then can't get cash back.
Maximum $50 cash back from debit cards.
If the order is $25 or less you don't need to sign. Over that and you'll need to sign and you might be asked to show both your card and ID to cashier.

I think St. Cloud doesn't, because they're a franchise. Almost all others take them and there's one around the twin cities that takes them -- just looked it up and it's the Eden Prairie one, lol -- up to five months past the expiration! The norm at the ones I go to is 3 months past.

we have Jewel in our area and they have signs all over the windows and doors and registers that they will "no longer accept expired coupons, in accordanance with the Manufacturer Coupon Redemption Policy".
Cub and Jewel are both Supervalu Stores....so it's only a matter of time before Cub no longer excepts expireds as well. So use em while ya can!
Oh, and sorry to be a thread crapper :P

None, that I am aware of. I do most of my grocery shopping at ST, so I seldom go to Jewel. But when I can figure out a good deal then I go and I  the SCO :whee:
But I first noticed the signs about 2 weeks ago.

Just wanted to help you guys out on a couple of things!
You might find that the thread gets more notice on the Drugstore/Grocery B&M Deals. I know that most if not all of the grocery store threads are in this forum and I'm sure there has to be more Cub shoppers out there! :)
Also - Shaw's in New England is a sister store to Cub - owned by SuperValu. Our thread may benefit you guys from time to time on current CAT offers and such! Here goes some information overload:
☆ Coke/Unilever/GM/Skippy Cat: Here (http://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc?key=rXC5AwTGCIIcKCmkHVR-YPA) is the participating UPC code list from Jewel (courtesy of CW). ☆Here are a few CATs you guys should expect to be seeing:

Made three run-throughs, spent $50, and brought home lots & lots. :)
A deal I noticed: the Oscar Mayer hot-dogs have a coupon in the coupon book for 2/$3. Pair with a $1/2 coupon found in a coupon dispenser by the hot dogs.
One slip-up: On one of my run-throughs, only a $5 catalina printed when I was expecting a $10 one. Apparently the crock side dishes were $3.49, not $3.50 - I'd missed the extra $5 catalina by 2 cents.

There is a rebate but I don't know where I got it - it's an actual form, so it must've been from a store or a mailer. Has anyone else seen this? It says "Tombstone helps pay your bills" and it's purchase 7 12"tombstone pizzas & get a $5 credit or 12 pizzas to get a $10 credit or 17 to get a $15 credit on your utility bill. Anyway, between the catalinas, this rebate, and any coupons out there, this could be a sweet deal.

I had a couple of $1/2 gogurts that were printables off coupons.com but are gone now - there are still some there and elsewhere for .40/1 & .80/2. Even those brings them down to 80 cents a box after figuring in the catalina deal. I printed a few more of them off today - I'm pretty sure they were from the links you provided above (for the fruit snacks).
I would love it if they doubled coupons. I am quite okay with being paid to take groceries out of their store.

I printed a few more of them off today - I'm pretty sure they were from the links you provided above (for the fruit snacks).
I would love it if they doubled coupons. I am quite okay with being paid to take groceries out of their store.
Just found another Q for the gogurts in the 6/7 SS $0.75/2

I found this coming week's catalina deals posted in another forum. Looks like it's buy $25 get $7 on some things like bounty, tide and cascade. Also buy $25 get $10 on manwich, healthy choice, danimals, marie calendar's frozen dinners, motts apple juice and more.
Have you done the P&G one yet? With the tide n stuff? Which forum did you see it on?

The P&G CAT really wasn't that great but here is the info:
P&G Deal ~ Buy $25 and Receive $7 ONYO
**NOTE - There has been a lot of trouble w/ this CAT not printing**
Gave it a shot this morning didn't get the cat so I will have to return my items later-
How is Cub at returns? Anyone know?
On a better note - Also while in Cub this morning I grabbed 15 boxes of Orville Redenbacher popcorn
Paid $7.50 or $0.50 a box and got back another $10 cat
The Cashier was in total shock her reaction was priceless
maybe she's new

If the CAT doesn't print, can the cashier manually print one?
I was planning on doing this one but not so much if the $7 isn't there.
2domjon, I haven't been back to Cub yet since my trip Sat night but I want to get before the GM CAT deal ends, so I think that'll have to be tonight or tomorrow.

We were just talking about this - although it's not for MNans just yet - the Cub Foods in Dayton OH is now doubling coupons up to 50 cents. (http://www.cubfoodsdayton.com/cart/c...ion=105&id=137) Hope that makes its way northward.

No idea, but I can't imagine they'd give you any grief. They're the ones who didn't follow through on their advertised CAT deal.

$1.00 off any one All Laundry Detergent - exp 8/15/09
http://www.loutremarket.com/052709.pdf
(posted by DS7 in the target thread)
Do you think Cub would take this one? It's from some random grocery store. Hmm. In one of my runs on Saturday, they accepted my Vitamin Water coupon but in my second run a different cashier turned it down.
Anyway, if the q is usable, it couples with the GM catalina deal with All detergent 2/$9 & $10 cat off of $25. Buy 6 at $27, use $6 coupons to bring it down to $21, minus the $10 cat, and it ends up being...quick math here...$11 for 6 Alls. I bought 2 on Saturday with my 40 cents coupons, they're a decent size.

One slip-up: On one of my run-throughs, only a $5 catalina printed when I was expecting a $10 one. Apparently the crock side dishes were $3.49, not $3.50 - I'd missed the extra $5 catalina by 2 cents.
Don't feel too bad at least you got a $5 cat
I just came back from messing up royally mix the old cat deal items with the new ones and ended up paying only $5 but getting back no cat at all:mad:

I don't think this was posted upstream - or was it? I used this Ragu coupon as part of the GM catalina deal that expires 6/17. It's in spanish but wasn't a problem. The Ragus are $3/2 and this is $1/2, plus the whole buy$25/get$10 back.

Yeah I only go on wed.'s (2 rainbow)
I also prefer Target over Wal-Mart
Target & Cub are brighter, cleaner and more inviting than the other 2
Off to bed I get up at 2 for work and then start counting down the minutes till I can make my first Cub run of the day
hopefully tomorrow I won't get my cat deals mixed up!!

I see a Tomstone Pizza CAT deal in the WIKI.
Remember to use your $1/2 IP's. They were on coupons.com a few weeks ago. Around the same time as all the kelloggs cpns.
I am interested to watch this thread. I usually grocery at Target b/c the prices are better.

8 marie calanders x $3 = $24 - 8($1/1Q) = 16
1 hunts ketchup $1 - $0.20/1Q = $0.80
minus $10 cat = $6.80
got another $10 cat
on average $0.68 per item thats great the marie calander meals are normally over $3 a piece not to mention delicious
next run:
13 dannon danimals
$26 - 13 ($1/1Q) = 13
minus $10 cat = $3
just found some of the $1/1 blinkies at rainbow
does byerlys have those blinkie Q's? anyone?
I need more of those!!

Can someone please price check for me on the multi-pack Diet Coke bottle. Thanks
They are $4
Thanks to love my chaos for pointing out the Q for Alexia crunchy snacks
Just bought 10 bags for $5
10 x $2.50 = $25
used 10 $1/1 Q = $15
minus $10 cat = $5
get another $10 cat
also got 10 of the 6pk soda's no Q's $15 or $1.50each so which is better the 6pk bottles for $1.50 or the 12pk cans for $1.75?
(these pop prices are before tax naturally)
One more thing what are the dates for this deal:
Quote from MNbabe
the GM catalina deal with All detergent 2/$9 & $10 cat off of $25. Buy 6 at $27, use $6 coupons to bring it down to $21, minus the $10 cat, and it ends up being...quick math here...$11 for 6 Alls.

I just got back. Cat didn't print, but self-checkout dude gave me $10 cash which is better anyway. I wasn't planning on going back again this week.
I bought various Dannon yogurts 2.00 x 12 = $24 - 12 x $1.00 various dannon q's
Orville popcorn $1.67 -.50 q
Used 11 coupons and didn't need any approval. That is what I was worried about. Is it the amount of coupons, or the $ amount of coupons. I'm thinking the latter.

We all ready talked about this on the first 2 pages and soon found out that the $1.50 Q auto adjusts to only take off $1.33 which is equal to the price of 1 box so no overage. It would look like this
$3.99
-$1.33
-$1.33
-$1.00
OOP $0.33 for 3 boxes

So it would be better to buy 4 boxes for $.32 cent than 3 boxes for $.33.

That either ends today or yesterday - I think it's today. The only thing too is that the 2/$9 was the advertised price last week, it might not be this week's price still. If it is & the deal is still going, I might yet get in on it. I found four of the Ragu coupons left behind on my printer after I got back from working that deal for what I thought was the last time yesterday. Lots of gogurt, Ragu & golden grahams around here. :)

That is fabulous - where did you get the marie calendar's coupons? I'm such an in-the-moment couponer, I rely a lot of coupons.com and printable sites.
next run:
13 dannon danimals
$26 - 13 ($1/1Q) = 13
minus $10 cat = $3
just found some of the $1/1 blinkies at rainbow
Okay I want some of those coupons too!
Also found a tear pad in Cub this morning for $1.50 off bananas wyb 2 boxes of cheerios looks like it is coded for the cheerios my question is can I use that 1 along with the $1/2 cheerios with no beeps?
I'm not sure, I'm thinking it would beep. The bananas/cheerios coupon would match up well with the free bananas coupon in the wiki; that one's a store/Cub coupon.
one more question to MNbabe what's your plan for rainbow tomorrow?
I don't think I'll be hitting Rainbow this week, I'm pretty much swapping Cub in and Rainbow out, since I still do Target for things like strawberries and Softsoap. How about you?

My closest Cub doesn't have a self-checkout.
My Cub has self checkout but it's worthless. It beeps for approval if you have more than 3 coupons and for any coupons over the value of $2.
Btw I didn't realize that you can roll the same cat unlike Walgreens as well as no need for an extra item to attach the cat to.

I realize not everyone has a ton of coupons for this sale but there are a lot of printable's (IP's) you can use too - lovemychaos listed them in her post here: http://forums.slickdeals.net/showpost.php?p=20510689&postcount=74

You can roll the $10 cat into another $10 cat or just use it to complete your shopping - buy meat or whatever

I think it's cubfoods.com, then is it "ads" or "see your ads" or "sales and specials" - something like that up at the top? Then it'll ask you for your zip code so you can put your own in or put 55330 and it'll pop up Elk River which has a few extra goodies usually. HTH!

She went and talk to the manager and manager OKed $1.33 for the Qs. Anyway I guess my Cub's register is not smart enough to auto adjust.
Got 10 Alexia Snacks tonight and they were on manager's special for $2.49 each at my Cub. I was fully expecting these to be $2.50 each so didn't bring extra coupons. Had to get a Hunt's ketchup to get total over $25. A $10 cat printed no problem.

Thank you :) Yes I was trying to determine if the nut deal was happening at a Cub foods store - however, now I see it is not. We only have the Cub Foods - we do not have all those other stores however we do have Copp's so I am going to go and see if the nut special is happening there.
Thank you so much!!!

THANK YOU!!!!! This is very helpful!!!! Couple of questions -
Do you know does Cubs focus on the first 5 numbers like T so that there are friendly families of Q's? I was thinking of the various Baby Rays coupons -
Is there written policy anywhere about accepting printables? I was shot down by a cashier there who said No way No how!!!
Thanks!!!!!

not too sure about the Q family coding and what Cub does with it but here is a spreadsheet (from HCW) on whether or not a particular Cub would accept IPs.
http://spreadsheets.google.com/pub?key=piwHDL6MUnFXwuzU57MLwWw
Edit: The spreadsheet might be outdated so you might want to call a particular store and ask whether or not they accept IPs. I think at least 1 store I used to go to started to accept IPs even though the spreadsheet says it doesn't.

I am pretty sure it was regional - unless you are referring to the large size as most of them read $1/2 or $1/1 larger size bottles.
There were however $1/1 any grilling sauce & $1/1 any dipping sauce (same first five digits.)

Have you tried rearranging everything?
With 9 kids 2 nieces & 1 nefew my freezer never stays full for long!
Good luck!
I rearranged my freezer and put some stuff out to the fridge and was able to fit more stuff so I went and got some of those 4/$10 smartones. I used the rainbow $3/3 coupons and didn't pay attention that they were only for Smart ones frozen pizzas or flatbreads (I think these are $3.99/each?). Cashier said they weren't for the items purchased but since they didn't beep she took them. Guess I won't be using this coupon anymore.

Quick run into Cub this afternoon.
2 Cub 24pks of water (.99 each printable Cub cpn)
10 boxes Rice Krispies ($1.75 - $1/1 exp mfg IP)
3 boxes Froot Loops ($1.75 - $1/1 exp mfg IP)
1.40 lb grapes (Free 1st lb Cub in-ad cpn)
10 Kemps Itti Bitz Ice Creams (.50 each printable cub cpn)
OOP: $17.73
Not toooooooooo bad considering how much stuff I got. I will be back for more water tonight and for cereal.
The cashier paused at my IP's. She took the ones in color (from the laser) but called the manager over for the ones in blk and white (ink jet that is out of color). I was fine with it, b/c I knew they were good cpns. The cashier just didn't want to get fired. They said a lot of people are copying cpns. They also that there are people that buy receipts online and then return stuff on those receipts. Strange, but whatever.

haven't heard of a supervalu store for ages. They used to have one here before they got replaced by cub a long time ago. They used to have double/triple coupon days too if I remember correctly. Maybe the ones in Duluth are franchised judging by their names "homecroft supervalu" and "paulson's supervalu"? There's a $5/$50 coupon on the entertainment.com website for Paulson's but looks like you have to sign up for entertainment.com. They do have 14 days trial though.

haven't tried it yet but I wonder if the amount is before Cub coupon amount or not. For instance is the water counted as $3.50 toward the $50 amount or is it after Cub's coupon and counted only as $0.99. I did go to Cub today to get a watermelon but didn't get anything else. One of my kids got back from summer camp and came down with some sort of flu (hopefully it's not h1n1) and he wanted to have some watermelon.

continued scanning the rest of my Q's and never did take off the $5 off so I had to take my receipt to CS - very nice girl added up everything and gave me back $5

The cpn states, "Limit of two per coupon please". I tried 4 24pks on one transaction with 1 cpn to see what would happen. It only made 2 of the 4 pks .99. The other 2 were $3.50.

Most likely they will charge regular price for the 2nd bag
that's how it went with the water Q which said " Limit 2 please" after 2 it charged regular price
they also have a double pack for around $11.99 that may be your best bet for the rebate
minus the Q $5.99 for 2 bags

I learned that too!! Why even say "please" at the end? Why not just say, "limit x."?

The sale price of $1.50 was valid last week, I am not sure what it is this week.
Went today had a good run--
I got:
5 Kraft Cheese ($.50 MQs)
1 No Name Steak($1 MQ)
3 GM Nut Cluster Things( No coupon, but these are great and gave Free Milk Cat)
2 Kashi Freezer Meals(Free meal mailers, expired today)
7 Propel($1 MQs, gave me a $2/9 Cat)
1 Always Infinity(Free MQ)
Paid $18.XX, got back the $4 Cat for Cheese and the Free Milk.
Was counting on No Names being $20 with Cub Q down to $10 to get over my $50 total, but they were actually just $10 no coupon so I threw in the Nut Cluster Trail Mix things.
Was using up free item Qs to get over $50, and the cashier said the computer knew the value of them on its own?

Thank you!
At my Cub the regular price of K C masterpiece is $1.93 have seen it on sale for $1.50 however I don't know if it is on sale this week
hope this helps some what
Most likely they will charge regular price for the 2nd bag
that's how it went with the water Q which said " Limit 2 please" after 2 it charged regular price
they also have a double pack for around $11.99 that may be your best bet for the rebate
minus the Q $5.99 for 2 bags

I am not sure what the value is that is the high limit. I do know that the $5 CWS go right thru with no approval.

Over $5 and I believe at most of my stores

I have been a lurker for 3yrs in the Target thread and want to thank you for starting the CUB one.
As for cheese freezing. Yes it does freeze. It can be used in caseroles, pizza or that type of thing. It will not work to be used in a salad. It does not hold its form. It has a tendancy to break apart when thawed. HTH

 Welcome!! happy rider
Thanks for the cheese tips!
wow lurking for three years! and it took cub for you to make your first post - awesome!!
hope to see you around here more often!!
Couple questions.....does everywhere that offers Catalina deals have the cheese deal if they have the product and Catalina printer? If so, can I purchase 10 in one transaction and get two Catalina's for $5.00 each? Oh yea, Also where did you find the $1 coupons. I have $1.50/2 (that is why I want to purchase 10) but not the $1 ones. Thank you in advance for your help.

I am not sure if every store with Catalina machines has the deal and it is buy 5 get $4 as for the $1/1 cheese I'm not sure I cut a bunch of them out of an insert quite a while ago as they are expired I'll check into it and get back to you - I also asked a few days ago if you could double up on the cheese deal & got no reply so I have no idea as I have not tried it sorry wish I could be more helpful

Okay so I now have 15 bags of cheese how well does shredded cheese hold up in a freezer?
does it thaw out properly? anyone know? TIA
I've got a drawer in my fridge full of cheese too. Hmmm. I read happyrider's reply (thanks, happyrider, and welcome!), I think I will freeze some.

Double up? I'd assume you could do that - they'd have no way of knowing it was you again, would they? That's if you check out twice. I checked out just once (okay, three times total, but only once with cheese in my cart) and bought enough cheese that I should've gotten 2 catalinas but only got the one. It was all I was expecting, it was a great deal with those $1 off coupons as it was!

(I think I figured out the multi-quote now, although not in time to use it on the last few posts. I'm confused too why sometimes my posts automerged and sometimes they don't. But that has nothing to do with cheese....)
Just saw that my response to domjon was after her response to this questions - nope, it didn't work for me in one transaction like that with the cheese. Just the single Catalina. If I'd been a smarter shopper, I'd have bought cheese with my earlier transactions.

Jello:
Round 1:
.54 x 3 = $1.62 - $1/3 mfg IP = .62 for 3 + $1 CAT prints
Round 2:
.54 x 3 = $1.62 - $1/3 mfg IP - $1 CAT = .38 Overage + $1 CAT prints
I had this promo print out for me last week and it is in my pile to post! LOL
This is a good one - I think the way I'll work it is to buy the 7 jellos at 54 cents each, using 2 $1/3 coupons & getting a $3 CAT back. $1.78 out of pocket earns a $3 CAT, so that CUB is essentially paying me $1.22 to take the jello home.
Unless the jellos are priced higher this week....

Okay so I finally make it to cub spend $51.12 use the $5/$50 and several other Q's total OOP $13.31 plus got back $4 CAT for cheese & $4 for tombstone
But no $10/$100 for next week
Is that cause I used the $5/$50?
I really wanted that $10/$100 should I give it a try with out it? After all this time I have the $8 in CAT's
This happened to me once on my three checkouts. Each time I used the $5 off q. I think the one time it didn't work the total fell below $50 after the $5 q. Hth.

Ah, thank you for pointing this out. I'm all new to CUB and coupons. So only one pack will count toward the total right?
Also, if anyone received CUB $10/$100 coupon and won't be using, I would really use them. I always need to buy PediaSure supplement for my picky eater kids, boy they are expensive and I don't have any manufacture coupon for them :(

I think so but I am not sure
I would count 2 and have extra items/GC what ever if it doesn't take the $10 off just add more items - if it does take it off just tell them you don't want the extra items - Let us know how it goes

Ran in quick for peaches for pies.
Found the little mesh bags of baby tomatoes for $1 each. They were in one of those bins that are out in the middle by the produce. They have peaches, watermelons, corn, etc in them. Anyways, sitting on top of the tomatoes, was a box with green booklets in it. The booklet said something about recipes included. Opened it up, and there are 3, $1/2 tomato cpns in the back.
$1.00 x 2 = $2 - $1/2 = $1 OOP for 2 bags of cherry tomatoes.

I am nervous about using the GNP coupon since I was shot down on the Vitamin Water coupon (as a possible counterfeit)! I will just try it and see. It came from the GNP website originally. I am getting a color laser printer (thanks Hot Deals!) so I imagine that will help with appearances too.
