Unfortunately in the world of survey marketing, they like to keep money to themselves, and worst of all, we can't bring this to the attention of them, because they probably would like this idea of letting people know what they are getting on certain surveys..... :(

Also the company giving the money to the survey people (Surveyspot) do not determine the amount each person gets, they just say here is some money, now get me x amount of survey's, with x% of failure.

sorry I was getting ready to leave the house and didn't even take the survey. I know that they sometimes fill up quickly so I wanted to share before it died. Maybe next time I won't share when I find something.
 Thanks for sharing!

I did the movie study last year and I was sent a paper check from the sponsoring company and I believe it took about 6-7 weeks.

Survey 754642 is a potential $30 reward. $5 for 1st part and takes about 10 mins. $25 for the second survey emailed a week later and takes about 30-40 mins.BEWARE- The second part is a doozy- takes over an hour and it has questions in it to make sure your actually reading it.

The money isn't from filling them out

Depending on the company of course, some of them pay quite a bit to have the surveys developed, administered and analyzed.

And why is it you would be checking a surveys board then? Hoping to score a $5 survey in addition to the supposed $12,000 you earn from creating the complex surveys? :shake:
So it's safe to assume that you would be considered one of the morons we all should get pi$$ed at when a survey screener link doesn't work then right? Thanks for introducing yourself~ ok everyone forward your thoughts to this fella the next time you get a p.o.s. screener that drops/times out. :)

Actually that's a fair question. ;) I came into the survey section and noticed posts about some of the companies I work with, but not necessarily the projects I work on - I do mostly internal stuff, not market research - although some of my customers do use the panels everyone here likes to bitch about (Greenfield, OTX, etc).

... and that in itself pretty much disqualifies me from participating in these kinds of studies.

Greenfield used to be a cashcow but over the past couple of years they've gone to slaughter. Anytime I see "OTX" I close the window out immediately. They are one company that just seems to love to screw people over.

Yeah, and I didn't know about this reputation until I started reading these threads. I'm pretty far removed from the incentive end of the process.

After reading a bit more of this subforum, I probably wouldn't have posted the $12K comment in retrospect- it seemed funny at the time but... now I look like a douche.

That said, some of the studies can be quite lucrative to run but it eats up my free time like none other.

IF you actually work for these companies or not, you should get those companies to require a minimum payment to us the consumer / survey takers, because often I will lose interest in the survey, and that actually might sway the survey results. Now if I knew I was going to be making $5+ on a 15- 20 min survey I would be more likely to complete fully.

I'm not on that end of the business, but I agree that is poor methodology. From what I've seen, the companies that use someone elses panel tend to jump around between vendors, so they don't really care if they misuse one panel group or another.

Here's how it usually goes -

A research/consulting company has a client that needs to gather data from a certain demographic. They put out bids to several panel vendors for the cost of assembling the panel. Once a vendor is selected, the survey is then hooked in to the panel vendor's campaign and reward management system. The researcher usually has nothing to do with the incentives provided if they're using someone elses panel. Likewise, the panel vendor doesn't have much if anything to do with the survey content/length/quality either.

Certainly the management of the panel community has an impact on data quality - and that's a big reason that many researchers dislike panel vendors.

If you are doing surveys strictly for the money yes don't do any that don't offer money. I do most all of them because some of the ones the don't offer any money have led to product tests which I enjoy doing.

I just did it and did not see where it said about the paypal. It never asked my PP address. Darn!!

It specified the $3 paypal on the first page (explanation of the study) before the survey was launched. And NO it did not ask me for my paypal address either and would assume it would be posted with the other "rewards" with SS. Nonetheless, I had saved proper documentation for this study if there would be a problem down the road with payment.

I am just curious, I signed up a few months ago and I have yet to get a paying survey. Is this a place where you need to put in a little time before it starts to pay. About once a week I log on and do a few "lottery" type surveys. I know we all have different demographics and this affects how many paying surveys we get. This seems like a site that does well for a large majority of our members, am I just a boring demographic? Any advice?

It seems like it took forever for me to start getting paid ones too. When they did start coming, now I get lots of paid ones. I've done very well with Survey Spot. I also think it might have helped that I downloaded their tool bar. After I did that, I started getting more paid ones. That might have been my imagination though...LOL

Interested in new music? Want to help record companies determine what will be hot and what will not? Well, your household has been selected for a new music survey. The survey is looking for input from people who are age 18-55. If that sounds like someone in your home, that person's attention would be greatly appreciated.

If you proceed you'll be asked to listen to 2 new songs and give your opinions about them. The songs are often new releases from major recording artists. This is expected to take about 15 minutes of your time. Most people find these surveys very enjoyable!

For taking part in this research study you can play the new SurveySpot Instant Win game and be entered into our $25,000 sweepstakes. If you have any questions about this survey, please reference survey number 757660.

They do pay, I did one for them last year. They usually take about 2 weeks later than they say. Also if some people don't send in their pictures then that holds up the process as well! :(

They do pay, I did one for them last year. They usually take about 2 weeks later than they say. Also if some people don't send in their pictures then that holds up the process as well! :(

Cool. Thanks for the info. I sent my picture already. Hope everyone else does. :)

" Thank you for taking the time to visit. This survey has been completed and taken off line. We appreciate your willingness to share your opinions with us and hope that you will participate in future surveys.

Thank you! "

I dont what to make of this. I still have 6 days to go. Anyone else get this???????????

I've found that if I try to access the study from the link Survey Spot sends out in the email, I get the same message as everyone else. However, if I access the study from the link that we were told to bookmark (the one that takes you to your 'usage diary') I have no problems. Hope that helps.

If anyone else does this one let me know if it asked you for a pw at the end. I got all the way to the end of the survey and it asked me for a number and a password. I'm willing to bet I won't get paid..It did not take me back to Survey Spot.

We shall see within time......:O

Edit - after posting above I thought I'd head em off and emailed member services to ask if they could verify that it did go through. Should hear some thing back within a week.

Surveyspot hardly ever offers paying surveys to me.

I have to say I am pretty content with Surveyspot. It's the only survey panel I belong to (I quit Surveyhead because it's a ripoff and I am about to close my account with E-Rewards as well). I have earned 96 dollars with SS in less than 5 months. My boyfriend has done even better. He has made 164 dollars !!

I would have to agree, as SS has been the best paying in comparison to e-rewards, mysurvey, greenfield, and the rest. I am a member of the ones I listed and SS has made me more than 6x's the rest. e-rewards, takes to long to be able to cash out for something good, and you can only do it a few times on each thing. mysurvey point system is crap! And Greenfield has lost it's goodness with me, started off making about 100 bucks the first month (sept 2008) and til now, only about $50.

But Surveyspot will become yet another loss shortly as they are switching to a points system and people will do all surveys that pay points and they won't calculate the points out accordingly. Which means people will be doing 30 mins. surveys for $1 or less, and that will allow SS to keep the payouts low, without most people thinking about points per dollar amount.
