I know I will probably come off as annoying, but as this is a new computer and Microsoft/HP has a program for a free upgrade to Windows 7, would these PC desktops qualify for that? For the people that won the laptop and already got it, if anyone reads this, could you share if you have managed, or are planning to, try to get a free Windows 7 upgrade. I guess it also depends on what version of Vista the laptop came with. I would be very interested in this as I have been staying with XP on my old machine, and now that I won a desktop :) I am hoping to just skip vista and go for Win 7 directly... Seems like the desktop comes with Vista Home Premium, maybe but I am not sure it this will be enough to qualify for the free upgrade....

I am not sure how official that is, but if it is true I am really interested if we will be able to get the free upgrade to Win7. I won a desktop :) and I am still using XP and would like to skip Vista if possible. Did you win one? I hope they will order them soon. So what? Just because you are not active does not mean you are a newcomer. And guess what, for every registered user here, there are probably 10x either non-registered or just not active ones. My take is that these giveaways are specifically done to get more people here (registered and active) so that slickdeals earn more money. I mean, this is not a non-profit organization, right?

Nice. I think we all got somewhat lucky that HP stopped making the p6110t. although it looks like this is gonna cost Mr. SD a few more bucks than the other one would have, that just goes to show you what a good guy he is!

My take is that a lot of people probably made 10 accounts to enter with everyday.

There is probably a lot of truth to that statement, but it certainly doesn't apply to all who won. I'd been frequenting SD for years, but just recently created an account so I could respond to a certain post. This was shortly before the contest started. Then I checked the 2 boxes that allowed 10 entries each for a total of 21 entries per day on my single account. In other words, I played according to the set rules and I was lucky enough to win on day 2.

If I had not won, I still would have been happy for those who did. Envious, yes, but happy for them. What I don't understand is the people who think all winners should have had lots of forum posts before they could even enter the drawing. Would those people have been happier if we all opened every thread on every forum and posted a single
'smiley" just to get our post count up first? No offense to ccnp105 intended, but would 500 of these make everyone who's complaining feel better?

An update. Laptops were ordered on Thursday and HP confirmed them yesterday. I believe HP ships from overseas so the people who won laptops should be getting them in a week or 2

An update. Laptops were ordered on Thursday and HP confirmed them yesterday. I believe HP ships from overseas so the people who won laptops should be getting them in a week or 2

For you winners, do not forget to go to HP Windows 7 (http://www.hp.com/country/us/en/mda/windows7/upgrade/index_ww.html?jumpid=ex_r602_go/windows7upgrade) and apply for your free Windows 7. I submitted a scan of the packaging slip which I think will serve fine as proof of purchase. If you do it from your win, you do not need to enter much manually.

I usually LOVE Saturday delivery except when I'm not home. Like this past Saturday.

FedEx told me the next delivery attempt will be Wednesday due to MOnday being Labor Day. I guess I don't get why their day off wasn't Monday...

Oh, and yes a signature was required...
