I posted on a thread earlier today and it got moved and merged into another thread. However, because the thread is gone, the system won't acknowledge that I've read it or acknowledged that I've tried to unsubscribe from it. It's stuck in "New Subscribed Threads" in my User CP and it's really annoying. Is it going to be there forever?

However, because the thread is gone, the system won't acknowledge that I've read it or acknowledged that I've tried to unsubscribe from it. It's stuck in "New Subscribed Threads" in my User CP and it's really annoying. Is it going to be there forever?

You have to go to the list of your subscriptions and actually delete the thread from your subscriptions. Unsubscribing doesn't work for a moved thread. :D
