View Full Version : Quick Rewards - R/NC-17 Rated Images in Survey

Tonight, I tried a survey with QuickRewards. I got a lot more than the measly 75 cents I earned. During the interview, I was bombarded with images that I'm sure will be giving me nightmares tonight. Part of a psych experiment, I suppose. They flashed these evil and violent pictures and then asked mundane questions about lightbulb purchasing. I had no idea this would affect me so much. I feel violated for sure. In the beginning, the instructions made clear that no one else was to be in the room with me. Also, I was told that I must look at the pictures as they flip through them, each one appearing for about 3 seconds. There was no indication that the pictures would be this disgusting. I am profoundly disturbed by the experience and hope I never run into this again. The scariest part of the survey is that at the beginning they asked that if I had children 13-17, they should take the test, but if now, then I could. This was completely out of line.

What were the images? Severed body parts. Charred human remains. Autopsy photos. Etc.

I think it was called the "Cutler study" . I'm certain it was a 75 cents one.

Surveyers beware!

Sure. No problem.

I'm relatively new to the surveying gig, and it has been fun. But this experience? Whoa nellie!!!!! It really turned me off to surveying. I'm worried I might fall into the same trap again. Has anyone else been hit like this with a survey?

It's my fault I took the stupid thing. And perhaps I didn't read the instructions thoroughly enough in the beginning. I don't know. But I really think they were going for some kind of shock because other than the lightbulb questions, they had me rate a whole bunch of emotions after seeing this garbage.

I've tried to go back and see exactly which QuickRewards survey gave me this horrible experience, but I couldn't get in because I had "already taken the survey".

Oh, also....at the end of the survey after I answered all the questions, they asked me to stick around and look at a few more pictures. A beach scene. Kittens. etc. Did tranquility return for me? NO way!!! The audacity of thinking that this would be a counter weight to what I had just been exposed to. What a joke.

I hope no one else hear has the misfortune of getting this survey. I am so, so sorry I took it.

That's horrible...is there a way to report this survey/company? If you don't remember anything in the instructions stating anything like what happened would happen, then I would seriously do something.

I know there have been studies at the university I just attended that were like this, but they paid way better and you were hooked up to a brain scanning machine.

This is just wrong on many levels... :vomit:

I'm sorry to hear about your experience, I really hope you feel better today. I find it very repulsive to be subjected to such images but I can bet my last dollar that they had a disclaimer and told you in the fine print that you can exit the survey at anytime. If they didn't then that's just a BIG No-No.

I have done several surveys and I have never had such a horrible experience. I feel upset that any company would "want" anybody to look at this kind of pictures. And yes I would do a survey for 75 cents because sometimes it will lead to a larger amount survey.

Sorry that this happened to you and that you received such an unfriendly/hostile remark. If it makes you feel better, it really is not Quick Rewards that you should feel bad about or blame, but the survey company itself. The survey company involved here uses Quick Rewards and many other GPT sites to farm out their surveys for participation. Perhaps it was My 2 cents? HTH and that you are feeling better.

Thanks. You are probably right, but I think Quick Rewards may need to do a better job fielding these kinds of surveys. In any event, I will continue to try to find out which survey this nasty one was. It hasn't shown up on my account yet. Maybe the icing on the cake will be no credit for doing the stupid thing.

As an aside, what kills me is that Quick Rewards probably pockets $10 on this survey and I got $0.75. Maybe there is an insider that can tell us what percentage companies like this generally get. That survey was worth far more than $0.75. Anyway, why can't we just find and take these surveys directly? I was very excited about Surveyhead as well but it seems like they do the same thing and Daily Survey Panel seems to be the worst. They have surveys from all over the place and pay peanuts.

Thanks for the warning. I did a survey a few weeks back (they also asked for my teenager to do it) that included sexually explicit images every 3 seconds. They were mixed in with pics of puppies, kittens, etc. It was creepy and I am so glad my daughter didn't do it.
Forgot to add, there was no warning about the nature of the pics beforehand.

The "X" on the upper right corner of the browser will end an unwanted survey. I have personally used this many times and it works like a charm.

I got this survey, and completed it. Like many of you I also found it a bit odd and gross. However at the end it did show nice things and though it didn't offer you the chance to complain I am sure there was a reason behind it.
