How did Slickdeals get twitter.com/slickdeals? Did someone give it to them? I remember they used to be twitter.com/slickdealsnet. Is it a script that automatically posts all frontpage deals or does someone go onto that twitter account to update it?

bah literally zero tweets for 8/30

dropping updates again:

twitter shows: Garmin Nuvi 265T 3.5" GPS with Text-to-speech, Bluetooth and FM Lifetime Traffic $135 or $131 about 4 hours ago from API as the most recent deal.

FP shows these two as the most recent deals:

We've been trying to diagnose why its happening, and we suspect that the issue is on twitter's end -- however we're still quadruple checking to make sure its not us.

To be honest it seems there are intermittent periods when twitter just stop receiving our updates.

Our system is completely automated to send the deals to twitter via their API, and we've been monitoring it to try to figure it out, we know they are getting sent out on our end. Its either a transmission error or twitter is somehow randomly blocking us.

SD may want to tweet their development updates and the like to avoid being targeted as a Bot by twitter. Mashable has reported that twitter is cracking down on accounts with bot like behavior.

Looks like it. Sending it in via API doesn't always work.

ugh it hasn't worked properly for nearly 2 weeks now. guess it's broken for good. can't you guys just tweet via the web if the api isn't working?

Is there a reason why you are using Twitter vs RSS feeds for example?

i like getting the tweets texted to my phone. back when the twitter was working, i was getting txts almost immediately after deals hit FP. with rss, i can only get notified when i'm in front of the computer since my phone doesnt have an rss reader or email. :(
