I just got my second sweepstakes survey in two weeks from GTM.
Anyone who does GTM knows that they always paid. Even if you didn't qualify you still got 25 cents. However, with all the people who are more than willing to spend hours a day doing free sweepstakes entry surveys, GTM now sees they can get free answers too. They may start out as being only a couple minutes long but eventually all their surveys will be non-paid ones. Why? Because people have ruined it by taking surveys for free.
Since their cash out point is $50, many of you are going to find yourself near the threshold but unable to ever cash out because people will flock to GTM to take surveys for free.
Their emails look identical except for the reward amounts so you have to be careful.
Don't take any sweepstakes surveys for GTM. Let them pay like they used to.

I stopped doing most surveys over a year ago. There's just too many people who have a lot of free time and don't care about the rewards. Maybe surveys will get better when the economy turns around.

I have to say, this post completely lacks any substance.
First of all what is this statement supposed to mean?
"...many of you are going to find yourself near the threshold but unable to ever cash out because people will flock to GTM to take surveys for free" ?
are you suggesting that there is a group of people out there just waiting for a chance "flock" to take "free" surveys? If that was the case, i highly doubt there would be any paid survey sites out there.
Secondly, I like the fact that you are happy to get paid for not qualifying for surveys, but you immediately cry foul when they send you surveys with no reward.
"Their emails look identical except for the reward amounts so you have to be careful. "
are you serious? do you want them to change the layout of their emails? What happened to the simple task of reading? What do you expect them to do? Put a massive sweepstakes banner in the email? SS sends an identical email for paid and unpaid surveys...there is absolutely nothing new there.

They should have a large flashing WARNING!!! header, that way nobody ends up scarred for life because they had to give their opinion away for free.

while I would not have put the wording the exact way the OP did...I agree for the most part..but heck there is a CHOICE here. I just skip the sweeps ones.... I do the ones that are worth my time...this morning I did a $5.00 for 5 mins survey... those I do... learn to pick and chose............Just because you are sent a survey does not mean that you HAVE to answer it... I do the ones that pay for my time.My "points " are almost always at zero but I still get checks for the pay studies I do from here.....Good Luck hun !

I don't mind doing free surveys if they are relatively quick or the subject is truly interesting to me. I do however think most of the sweeps and iwg are bullshit.

Just recently GTM sent me a survey invite for next to nothing and thought I'd give it a shot since it was out of the normal 5-35 pts or 5- whatever points. Well, lo and behold it led to a $100 phone interview that about knocked me off my chair when offered.
Nonetheless, I won't keep myself up at night searching for sweepstakes surveys because I don't have anything better to do with time. You might say I just had a gut instinct on this one and I hit the nail on the head. :applause:

This is so true... heck one time or MAYBE twice a year I see someone win the BIGGIE companies sweeps...now the Stanford ,CLER & such I and others win A LOT ( the university sites) ...so it does depend on the source
I will do a sweeps on certain sites ( surveyspot ...your 2 cents or what ever it is called now ) once in a while because I want to stay on the active list but I look thru those also and do the ones that are 5 mins or so... That is my motive ... Then I pick and chose ... there are SO MANY TIMES that I am offered a survey for $10.00 do it and then get offered the SAME EXACT survey by Mindfield or Clear Voice Surveys for a $1.00 or two... These places are so notorious for duplicating and paying so little. But then I keep accepting the mailings of the surveys from them...Once every great while comes thru...got a $10.00 the other day...
This is a job...ya gotta keep on top of it... You won't get rich but ya know it pays for alot of stuff ( especially Christmas and BDAYS )

Even though it is appreciated that this has been communicated as something new and different, the word beware seems to be at least a bit strong. Just to ease your worries/concerns: I doubt that people will not be able to cash out or have trouble cashing out because some surveys may be a sweepstakes instead. Some people are willing to do surveys for free, but I do not think people will flock to take these. I do not think you can blame the people that are willing to take surveys for free and that they have ruined it for others. How do you know that all of their surveys will become non paid??
BTW, you only get 5 cents (not 25 cents) for trying to take a survey and not qualifying. HTH

I get 25 cents like the OP says. I get 5 cents per point. I thought everyone got the same amount.
I think OP was just trying to give people a heads up that they may be doing a survey for a sweepstake and not realize it. And I will admit I accidently did one. Im so use to getting points I didnt pay attention. When I went back to the email to close it out is when I realized it. Then a few days ago I got another. This time I noticed and didnt do it. That one that I did do was long and should of paid. I use to get 50 points for their surveys and now it is down to 30-40 points and sweeps. I have also noticed when I reach around 700 points I have a hard time getting my other 300. Ususally months go by. But once i cash out all of sudden i get tons of qualifying surveys and then bam hit the 700 mark and struggle. So I do see what OP is saying.

Thanks for clarifying about 5 cents per point. I remember reading somewhere (maybe here) that you get 5 cents for not qualifying, but it is 5 points which does equal 25 cents. Sorry for confusing things. Yes, I am sure the OP was trying to give people a heads up, but some people were questioning the words chosen to do so. Still thanks to the OP for letting people know.

i dont think its that hard to read a survey and see what the reward is BEFORE you do a survey. there's no reason to act surprised about survey entries. Survey Spot does them, Greenfield does them. I dont do a survey unless I'm getting some points or cash equal to the time i'm going to spend taking the survey, it only takes a second to read what the reward is. and if its a dollar for a 45 mins survey, odds are i wont do it..

As most of you know, last month Global Test Market started sending sweepstakes entry survey invitations. They looked identical to the paid ones but it showed the reward as "sweepstakes entry" rather than "5 - 40 points".
In the past two days I got two survey email invites from Global Test Market. However, these invites showed the reward as "0 - 0 points". No points and not even a sweepstakes entry.

Yes, I thought this sounded familiar. Perhaps he forget that he posted the same thing just days ago. :lmao:

It would certainly be nice if we could use the forum for more meaningful posts.

Whats the reward on this one ?
Survey Number: 147072
Reward for Survey Completion:
Im guessing that means a sweepstake but it is kind of sneaky. I have had a string of them like this where it doesnt list anything. I would email them but they dont respond usually.

The last couple of survey invitations I've gotten from Global Test Market have been blank where the point awards should be. I went ahead and gave one a try this morning to see if it was a glitch and I did get credited 50 points for the survey so who knows what is going on

I noticed the same
Sent in a message yesterday to ask
the one I saw, 147433, GTM said was for 40 points
Haven't seen any others yet
Looks like its time to ask the GTM blog about what's going on:confused:

I got 5 this week- all for no points -just sweeps :(
It sucks becouse this site used to be great- now most surveys they are sending out give you no points at all an if you DQ in the past at least 5 points- now you get nothing.
Figures to- i have 950 points an just want to cash out- at this rate it will take forever to ever cash out again :(
Used to be me my favorite- not anymore- its a shame
