What is the best thing to do if you make a mistake during an online survey and you can't go back and correct it, since at the beginning of the survey it indicates not to use the back button on your browser to go back?

For example, I recently was filling out a survey when I noticed that the questions that followed were contradictory to what I had answered before. I thought that perhaps I put my my previous response in the wrong column/accidentally selected the wrong answer option, but I couldn't go back, so I just exited/closed the survey without completing it.


Sometimes a survey will mention way later on (10 or more minutes into the survey) that earlier I had mentioned that I have never shopped at this business and to explain why not. I am almost certain that I told them 10 minutes earlier that I have shopped here before and will be shopping there again. Again I was confused and didn't know what to do, so i just quit/exited the survey. Should I have written a paragraph explanation that I thought I had told them earlier that I do shop at this business and if I accidentally selected the option of haven't shopped there before that it was a mistake?

I'd say something like "I DO shop there and said so earlier." I'd NEVER close out a paying survey because the questions got weird... and if a survey doesn't pay, why waste time doing it?
