View Full Version : Mods Give Rep In Lounge

I would like to see either mods, or mods and the people with over 100 rep points be able to rep in the lounge. I know why rep is not allowed in the lounge, and I totally agree, because I could see it getting out of hand, but not if only these people could do it. The kinds of posts in the lounge that deserve rep points are the ones where someone asks for help with homework, or asks a question about how something works, etc. I know you can rep by finding a post they did someplace else, but that kinda defeats the purpose of not repping in the lounge and takes a bit of effort not everyone is willing to place forward.

I see your point it sounds like a good idea to me. Guess we have to wait and see what others think.

One of my rep points is for a post I made in an iTunes freebie thread... It says 'thanks for the math help'. (from the lounge)
If people appreciate your post, they'll make the effort.

That's not to say that I don't like the idea though :)

And who would that be? I remember seeing that before someplace, can't remember who though.

they've been disbanded, but some users gained 25+ rep in a day. there's really no sense in making it legit if that's the case.

couple pts every now and than is no harm... but people getin hundreds of rep for nothing... seems wrong.

That's why I said mods only.

well mods have had neg rep pts enabled for awhile now. i think to this day i've given <2 nerps.

i'm pretty sure its been the same for others mods. past the last week i've given <10 regular reps, mostly in the tech support secotion.

IMO no one will really notice the difference.

I've never given any nerps(never needed to), but I have given out warnings instead.

I can understand what the OP is suggesting. Some people who post in the lounge only post in the lounge. It's hard to rep them when you have to go back through 2+ years of posts to find one that in a rep-enabled area of the board.

The same math thread that the OP mentions is probably also chat.

Why should it be worth a rep point when it's not even worth a post count?
(NOT a rhetorical question)

the lounge is simply for that lounging. Nothing constructive related to the mission of the site is done there. Therefore no reputation should be earned there either.

Some folks in the Lounge use it for everything, including freebies, hot deals, and tech support, because they feel comfortable there. They should be encouraged to use the appropriate sections and not rewarded with rep points for not doing so.

:iagree: lounge hermits should post elsewhere if it applies
