We have a handful of threads that have bits and pieces of L4D stuff on it, so I figured we should consolidate since it seems to be active for the time being.
Please put your GTs and available times in the wiki!!
Now.. for a story, over lunch break I did 14.5k damage one round and 13.5k the next as a tank... haha.
Also, seems that powershot doesn't work on PC :/.

Scheduling:
chrisUSC - I am on Steam most nights all night, let me know if you want to play
Strategery:
Powershot:
- Get your pistol out.
- Melee and hit Y (to switch weapons) at the same time. -- KEEP HOLDING MELEE
- While continuing to hold melee, hold fire.
- Wait 5-10 sec.
- Release melee while aiming at your target.
Result:
- Perfect aim of all bullets into the clip to the middle of your reticle.
- Tanks cry.
Additional strategy:
- When you know a tank is coming, charge up your powershot so you have one ready when you see him. MAKE SURE ALLIES ARE OK FIRST Since you can't melee or fire while doing this
- You move faster when going forward, so when you fire your first one off, turn around and run away from the tank while charging another.
- Since this is 100% accuracy, hitting the head is crucial. One or two power shots is all that is needed to take a tank down if you get a headshot.
Notes:
- Have not had much success w/this on witches (phrozt)
- This only works on the 360.
- This only works w/automatics (SMG/AR... not auto shotty)
Healing:
LEARN HOW TO DO IT RIGHT!!@@!@!@:
- Do NOT heal if you are just "low on health"
- Do NOT heal unless you've gone down twice
Exceptions:
- If everyone around you is down or going down, heal up, so that you can fend off the hoard and/or, if you get pounced/smokered, you have a higher chance of your teammates shooting you free.
Why????:
- Having health packs at the end of a round in VS is worth more than if you had healed yourself with it.
- Healing yourself resets your down timer. So... average idiot who heals when he gets low (30-40%... I've seen it at 50%...) can go down three times and he's dead. Person who's not an idiot can go down twice, get healed, then go down three more times before being dead for good. 5 > 3.
- When you're B&W, don't wait till 1 hp. All an infected has to do is scratch once and you're down. Heal at 20 or even 30 when you're B&W.
** Think about the health in that situation. From the previous example. You don't heal to full w/a healthpack, so it's wasted to heal before you've gone down.
Idiot: Heals at 30%. So that's 70health + 50 (should heal to 80.. so 80-30 = 50). Down1 = 30 (decaying), Down2 = 30 (decaying). Total: 120HP (+ 60 decaying)
non-Idiot: Full 100hp. Down1 = 30 (decay), Down 2 = 10 (decay, heal @ 20). Heal to 80, Down1 = 30 (decay), Down2 = 30 (decay). Total: 180HP (+100decay). Huge difference.
Notes:
- Learn to play the game going slow as well as taking care of teammates who are going slow.
- Learn how to manage pills as a team so everyone is "topped off." Hoarding pills while you have a teammate that's been down once and is bleeding out does nothing for the team.
- If you have a bot on your team and they try to heal you but you don't want to be healed, pull out your health pack and they will back off for a sec.
Teammate Health Management:
- LEARN TO MELEE!!! Can't even count how many times I've seen someone right next to me trying to kill a smoker or hunter, costing 10-30 HP (had 70 once) just because he didn't hit the melee button.
- In a multiple snare situation, free people who haven't gone down yet. When a teammate goes down, they have 300 HP!! If you res them at 300, they get 30 hp. If you res them at 5, they still get 30hp. The green HP is so much more valuable, so free people who don't have decaying health FIRST. All you have to do is melee the healthy person, then turn and shoot whatever is on the downed person.
- Use a downed person as a shield. Again... 300 HP! If you and a downed guy get boomed, take a step back, let him take the hits, and shoot the zombies off of him. Your accuracy is better, and again... he'll still only get 30 HP regardless if you res him at 300 or 10.
- Be situationally aware!!! I've gone down WAY too many times yelling SMOKER or HUNTER while the idiots on my team are taking pot shots at zombies in the distance that aren't even a part of the fight yet. Even if you're getting swarmed, melee and shoot your way to your snared teammate to hang on to that ever-important healthy HP.
- Clear your downed victim before helping them up. Any hit on a downed victim while resurrecting sends them right down again... which means you take more hits, they take more hits, and the enemies have more time to respawn. Ideally, you want to have a person with you to melee while you help the downed victim up.

I don't usually play versus but would give it a shot with some good teammates. The problem I have with it is that everyone cheats. I've played like 5 versus matches and every single one had someone glitching in some way.
My strategies (you probably know these):
-Tanks are huge, you are not. When playing the final scenes and in a house, you should goad the tank into coming to attack you. When the tank is fairly close, go through one of the windows in the house. The tank will naturally attempt to follow you if no one else is nearby. If it does, there is a very good chance that it will either get completely stuck or take a very long time to get through. Go ahead and take your time killing it. I find messing with tanks to be very amusing, but someone else always gets in the way and dies
-Melee when a hunter pounces you and you won't be pounced. Another way to avoid this is to move backwards in a circle, because hunters can only pounce in straight lines. He'll barely miss you every time and you can shoot him while running in circles.
-Stay in the goddamn closet. Why are you running around out in the open? Stop! No!!! What are you doing??? Come back here bef... ahh, you're dead. Well, wish me luck, because I refuse to go rescue you in the middle of a zombie stampede.

You shouldn't be in a house when a tank comes.
Let me clarify: you should run outside to know the location of the tank so it doesn't surprise you, and then goad it into a window. I highly recommend trying my trick out - no tank has touched me since I figured it out. It works best on the helicopter level (no mercy? can't remember) and the boat house.

too open with bad teammates. I prefer to stay in the boat house closet and just mow them down. also, the ammo is right there when you need some.

Problem is, after the second tank, you have to make it all the way to the docks. If you start at the docs and stay there, you're good to go.
And Truj.. what are you talking about w/the closet? As for ammo, I just use pistols because no one is going to get close enough that you're really have to use the big guns for. When the tank comes, I just pull out the AR and power shot him to death.

For the first strategy, that would work if you are one on one with the tank with all of the other infected dead, once you isolate yourself, a smoker pull or hunter pounce would get you killed even if the tank doesn't make it through the window.
For the second, Good hunters don't pounce in a straight line, they curve in the air and adjust when neccisary. Best way is to get in a room or master the art of melee. Whats even more fun is to stand right under a lightpost or solid object that would be hard for a hunter to notice from afar so they land right on it and can't do anything after you blast it to death.
I don't closet camp, neither does my team, simply because it is very boring. You will see my team on any mounted gun when there is one and you will see us at least 2 people apart in other events. Yep, that includes NM2,3,4, and the finale, and the DA finale (those that i remember off of the top of head).
O i should add that i play on the PC. I'm not sure if the huntter stuff is possible on the 360.

Hunter is exponentially better on PC. wall jumps are ridiculously easier, recovering after getting meleed is much easier... Everything is easier on the PC.

Note that I said I don't play versus... and I get such bad teammates usually that not going to a closet is suicide. I dunno how it is on PC, but the 360 is full of people that do not understand the basic concept of the game - play as a team.

I read the heal part of the wiki. My questions though is what about the movement penalty you incur at lower health? I mean shambling around like that will affect the overall speed of your team.

Yep.. sure does.. and like I said.. learn to play that way. I easily go the majority of most maps in the orange, and I've made at least 20% on 1 hp. If you have good teammates and listen for the classes, you'll be fine. Only thing is, hunters don't make sound when they're standing, so all they have to do is climb to some high place, drop down, and queef on you... and any decent hunter does exactly that.
Just stick together, use melee VERY LIBERALLY and be situationally aware. Going slow is actually sometimes a good strategy. If you can get away w/it and have a great team, by all means rush ahead (throws spawning infected off quite a bit), but there is serious skill in the ability to be able to progress slowly.

I like your strategies Phrozt. I always hate it when I'm snared up by a smoker right in front of my teammates and they don't melee me out of it. Then again, they usually just let me die. I haven't played the game in a while though, maybe people are better at it now.

I would say I get idiots about 75% of the time. Then again, I'm pretty decent, so I get frustrated with little stuff easily... but there are some real gems out there.
On the other hand, there have been occasions where I get w/a group and everything just clicks and it's really fun. The problem then, however, is that it's hard to finish a game because the other team keeps rage quitting, lol.

Every decent team will devise their strategy against anyone in the red and you'll either kill your team b/c of how slow you are moving or at best, you'll be dead. As was mentioned, I'd just Hunter swipe you to death, or I'd wait for my teammates to do that, and either Boom whoever comes to help or Smoke them. When you're about to fall and you're on my team, I'd appreciate it if you'd heal. You may be annoyed by people using health packs too soon, I'm irritated by people dying with a full health pack or causing me to get my butt kicked to constantly pick you up b/c speed for me has always been paramount. How Left 4 Dead 2 is going to shake out is unknown, but I'm guessing speed will be even MORE important there, since crescendos in some spots don't stop until you perform some action that you need to travel to get to, and if you go slow and stick together, the Spitter is going to destroy you. I got rid of my Left 4 Dead copy when I heard the sequel was comin', but with the dlc, I'll look for a copy on goozex.
I think everyone should know the power shot, the cheat for the boomer, ghost swiping, etc so people stop doing it, but at this point, with Left 4 Dead 2 coming, I don't care as much. I'm just wondering how many cheats will be in this one.

Had an awesome team yesterday... we just ate through everyone. We were playing NM, and on the sewer level (3rd level, where you can blow the gas station up), we killed everyone right out the door. 2 of them headed to the left where a boomer blew up on one and a smoker grabbed the other towards the garage, and then myself and another hunter pounced on 2 of them right out the door (I got a nice little 10 hit on the pounce). Caused mass raging.
The last guy left on the 4th level (he tried to do the whole thing himself... poor guy), so it was just the 4 of us for the finale. We all killed each other as survivors, then 2 of the guys went to the other side. So here I am on the side w/infected, knowing that my survivor team already lost. We had such horrible luck stopping them, and for tanks, we had a 3rd guy join our team who failtanked both times.
Fortunately, they had 2 bots. One of them went down when the heli came, so while the 2 humans were in the chopper, the bot went back to save the other bot. They didn't know wtf to do since they couldn't leave but didn't want to get out of the chopper. Ended up they both went out to try to save the bots, but when the other bot and one of the humans were downed, the last human ran towards the chopper. We had a tank but he was too far away.
I was the smoker and I literally pulled zoey away as she was jumping into the chopper, for the win. Was truly one of the best games I've played.

Nothing Special is EASY to get if you have 4 ppl total who know what they're doing.
I did mine with 3 friends on Airport. The finale is really the only one you can't screw up on, as you can just hide behind the plane and not get hit once.
The first 3 parts are also pretty simple, as the special's come out at timed places. As long as you go quickly and carefully through the level, you can't really fail at it.
I still have 980/1000 in this game though.. I just need 1k more zombie kills :(

Yea but the survivors never go in the yard they always go inside the building either above or below that back corner. The only time they ever come out is to restart the generator and there is no tank at that point.
