View Full Version : Problem posting replies to threads

I recently registered for the forums. When I click to post a reply to a thread, the reply appears but only for a moment. If I leave the page, or refresh, it is gone.

I read through the FAQ and I don't see anything suggesting that my replies have to be OK'd by the moderators first....any ideas/explanation?

Thanks in advance

All new members have their posts moderated. Until a moderator Oks your posts, it will not be seen just yet. You can thank all of the one-post-spammers for this.

This has been in place for months. The upgrade now makes it easier to spot the posts & lets us approve or deny them faster.

How long until you aren't being moderated any more as a noob?

IIRC, it all depends on posts.

its a combination of things. time spent/rep/posts, reach the milestone in one and you are no longer moderated.

... only for a moment ... and the moments gone :whistlin: ... dust in the wind ... all we are is dust in the wind.

Hope that helps answer your question. ;)

I've been registered for over 2 months and I still can't post, and it seems mods don't bother to approve my posts. Kinda annoying, I understand the need, but...

Considering that there's a notification every time a post needs to be OKed, I tend to disagree with this statement.

You have 3 posts under your belt and 2 of which did not require any moderator approval. What problems are you having with posting?

My posts keep disappearing. The rules say I can post, edit, etc. but once I post I see the message and it has a number. When I refresh, its gone. What gives?

you buncha whiny hinneys. You think being moderated/watched is bad?

I've gotten to the point where TR and rayzac99 are actually controlling my fingers... making me type long winded essays that make absolutely no sense what-so-ever.

I swear, I'm gunna sue em for deformation, (of my fingers), if they don't stop it.

Just once, I would like to express my OWN opinion around here.;:P

(I think I got past the moderated/watched stage without incident because they were all immobilized with laff-ter reading my posts and forgot to actually do any moderating of them.)

Thanks for replying to my question. It seems now that my posts are no longer moderated anyhow. It makes sense I suppose. The one time posters can be frustrating sometimes.

Anyhow, perhaps if we could put a note into the FAQ about this? It was a bit confusing at first. Especially because it would appear that my post was okay until I refreshed the page, at which point it was gone. :-)

I'm glad to see that I'm not moderated anymore, but I can't find some of the posts I made today in the Deal Discussion forum. ):

...Anyhow, perhaps if we could put a note into the FAQ about this? It was a bit confusing at first. Especially because it would appear that my post was okay until I refreshed the page, at which point it was gone. :-)The info is in the FAQ for this section (http://forums.slickdeals.net/showthread.php?t=77193) (but not in the Hot Deals FAQ):"Finally, if you are a newly registered user, your posts are currently being moderated. there will be a time lag between the time you post and the time it shows up on the boards. It sucks for you, but its temporary and its our best weapon in fighting referral posters. We can't say anything more on it, since it'll defeat the whole purpose of having it."

I go through the moderated posts quite a few times a day (when I'm online). I do delete duplicate moderated posts, as I do not see the point of something to be posted 3 times by 1 member. As of right now, the moderated posts for freebies, coupons, here & contests are clear.

His feelings are hurt. I told him to apply for federal aid for psychological counciling under the Workmans Compensation Act, since he seems to make a living out of deals here. :P (j/k)

(Newly Wed huh? I hope you used yer coupons and didn't pay retail for him :D )
