Sounds like using your credit card to make a purchase would be through the printer itself and is part of the functionality testing of the web connection/capabilities the printer has.

Have you received your printer to test yet? And if so, when did you receive this message?

i just got the message yesterday and no not yet the test doesnt start till the 8th

Sounds to me like a way to test the printer. Optional because people may have reservations. I'd say to buy something you would have bought anyways then if you get credited back - awesome! :)
