Hi, I have a cousin of 16.5 years who wants GTAIV for his birthday. I was thinking of getting him the game.

Now, he lives in a family where parents dont really care about foul language, violence, etc but they do care about sexual content/nudity.

I know GTAIV has strip clubs, prostitutes, etc, but I was wondering if there is a way to play the SP campaign without entering any strip clubs or having any sexual encounters.

 yeah..it's a MA game anyway. Is he turning 17 on his birthday? Then that's what ESRB says it's okay to play! :D

 But yeah..first time I played GTA IV with a friend..well..just turn the volume down

Timmy: "Mom, I'm going upstairs to play my mutherf*cking b*tch-ass game where I'm gonna be a criminal, kill cops and massacre people."

Mom: "Ok."

Timmy: "Mom, I'm going upstairs to play my game which involves sex as a tangential part of the gameplay."

Mom: "No you are not, not if you live under our roof!"

No, his family owns only one TV in the living room so he will have to play on that TV, and his parents can probably walk by and see it at any time.

So I am assuming that there is a mission where you have to do something sexual?
I don't really wanna get in trouble for giving him GTAIV

Back on topic--as I recall, there are one or two missions that take place in a strip club. There will be topless, but nippleless (I checked), strippers running around once the gunfire commences. Other than that, you can easily skip any inappropriate cutscenes by pressing 'X', or the equivalent of that on the xbax360. There aren't any missions where you're forced to do anything sexual. Your cousin has the option to voluntarily drive around at night and pick up hookers and bang them, but that's up to him. Also, at the end of dates, when you take the girl back to her place, tell your cousin not to choose the "try your luck" option. That's the button to go in and bang her.

But to answer your question, there is no way to complete the SP campaign without having to go into any strip clubs. The missions aren't linear, though, so your cousin can always skip those missions, and work on the others, until he's home alone.

There's one mission where you have to battle your way though a strip club and a few where you meet your contact inside of one, but the girls aren't naked, they're essentially in really skimpy bathing suits.

The game is a lot easier if you get it on with your girlfriends/go to strip clubs with your friends/pick up hookers (they DO boost your health..) but none of that is strictly required.

I don't know why I found your use of quotations with cousin amusing, but I did. :lmao:

Or you could respect the parents wishes. Talk it over with them first and divulge the type of vulgarity expected to be encountered.

I believe there are dates to go on to progress story (or at least side stories) which can end in knocking boots (not shown, but heard). As already mentioned, there are numerous engagements in strips clubs but I don't recall any explicit nudity. And there will always be talk of sexual male bravado.

If he really likes GTA's gameplay but the sex is a no-no, I'd try Mercenaries 2. It's very similar, but there isn't any sexual content that I've encountered.

The game in no way revolves around sex, and I believe that you actually enter a strip club (as part of the missions) maybe once or twice, but there is no nudity and is basically like a dance party on the beach minus the beach. Prostitutes are only a part of the game if you choose to use them in regenerating you health (but it's really inconvenient).

GTAIV without the sex? No thanks. How on earth could I ever play through without picking up hookers, banging them and then murdering them for cash over and over and over?

But yeah, seriously, what everyone else said. Just those strip clubs and if thats considered bad by any parents then they need to realize they have a 16-17 year old kid who sees way worse things all over the place. I've seen Victoria Secret catalogs that are more vulgar than the strip clubs.

Sex is natural and it feels good. And boobs are nice to look at.

I agree with talking to his parents about it. He is going to be 17, so its probably ok for him, but if they have that big of a problem:

If he really likes GTA's gameplay but the sex is a no-no, I'd try Mercenaries 2. It's very similar, but there isn't any sexual content that I've encountered.

^^ This is a good idea. Merc 2 is a fun game.

yeah OP, go smack yourself in the face for respecting your family

is this a joke?

there's practically zero sex in this game.

when the characters have sex, it's off screen and all you hear are lame moans and crap.
and the strippers aren't naked. you see just as much on daytime cable.

this post is the reason why we're so jacked up.

running around killing people, killing cops, stealing cars, hit-and-runs, blowing things up, running with the mobs, etc. is the bulk of the game, yet, you're concerned about the "sex"?

get a life.

There is no explicit sex scenes in the games. But definitely tons of suggestively contents.

It maybe a good channel to instill proper sexual value system through the game.

Quite a bit off topic but, who refers to a 16 year old kid as "16.5"?

Way to read and understand his post. Perhaps it's knee-jerk overreactions like yours that only contribute to the "so jacked up" society that you refer to?

If he's past 16 and his bday is coming he can legally buy the game himself cause he'll be 17. Why not just get him a gift card to EB or gamestop or something and put a little note in the card like "So i heard GTA 4 was an awesome game hint hint" then you're off the hook and he can fight it out with his over protective parents that are probably very sexually insecure themselves which is why they see it as such a taboo topic.

tell him to get good enough that he can turn the tv off when it comes to the strip club scenes
