Could have used this last weekend as our belt broke while driving on I75.

Looks like less of a gauge and more of a comparison strip, to see how bad it is on the spectrum of belt-wear. Though really, it's not hard to eyeball and touch a belt and notice that it is dry and cracking.... plus if you get your oil changed, I'd be surprised they don't check this as a simple way to upsell you -- most do.

I just replaced my belt this weekend. It will be interesting to see what this guage says when and if I receive it. ;)

Sometimes you get lucky. Pulled up to the magnetic card sensor at work and heard, as I opened the window and waved my card - tap, tap, tap, tap at a pretty fast tempo. The tempo increased as I slowly accelerated into the parking area. Went out on my lunch break - since I had an 89mph blow-out in Oklahoma preceded for about 15 seconds by tapping/thunking as the tread separated, I have become REALLY respectful of new noises. Looked around, started the car, looked back under the hood, determined where it was, stopped the engine. The serpentine belt in one spot, for about three inches, had torn. The tear extended two thirds of the way accross the belt. Limped the one mile to Pep Boys and had them replace my belt, it was Sunday and I had to be at work again Monday - had an SD 10% off coupon. Repped.

I'd guess it's just be like a mini-ruler like a tire tread depth gauge.

Maybe it'll be like a gap tool, a

card with a series of v-shaped teeth, find the one that fits the belt groove and see how much rubber wore away.
