I know this may be a stupid question but will ask anyway ,
I need some advice please. Got a survey invite from SurveySavvy (#L1730). It read:

"Did you ever wonder if your computer can earn you money? Now it can. We are launching a pilot program and are looking for qualified panel members to download and install an application on their computer which will collect updated service availability from main telecom providers.

If you qualify and allow the application to run on your computer weekly, then your account will be credited $10 a week. It is that simple."

I'm in the middle of taking the survey. I qualified and it says:

"Based on your answers, you qualify to participate in this exciting study! Minimal effort is required. All you need to do is adjust your Internet Explorer settings, install the Troller application, then allow the Troller application to run on your home computer for a minimum of 4 hours a day over the next week.

The Troller application will gather information about availability of certain telecom services across the US. The application will run in anonymous mode and will not collect or submit any of your personal information.

The Troller application will open and close the browser and go to key sites to gather information making it distracting to use the computer while the application is running. You can close or pause the application if you need to use the computer, but please remember to restart it and allow it to run when you are done.

Are you interested in participating?"

What do you think? Would you do it? Is it spyware? Will it be able to pull personal info from my computer? TIA for any advice you can give me.

Honestly I think its probably fine - I even did one where i gave them my email login and they paid me for the junk mail i got. I trust surveysavvy implicitly they have never steered me wrong and i dont waste countless hours with them trying to get money they owe me because they alwaus pay for the surveys I do. I have been a member a long time with them and the reason they have been around a long time is obvious.

I trust SurveySavvy but that application sounds insanely creepy and probably wasn't programmed by them, so they have no idea what it really does. IMO I'd stay away from it.

i did this last spring with them. i think they paid $50 for 3 weeks.

you have to keep an eye on the program, it will crash often. i ran it on a laptop.

then $ didn't show up, i had to contact the company, but finally got paid
