We're building a panel of user testers who use our custom software to record their screen and voice as they "think out loud" while browsing websites. As a user tester, you'll receive emails alerting you whenever a new job with your demographic has been requested. You go to our site and "accept" the job. Then, it takes about 25 minutes for you to do a complete recording. Seven days later, $10 will be deposited into your PayPal account . Our user testers do between 1 and 20 jobs per week. The allocation of jobs is based on the demographics requested by our clients and the availability of matching testers.

Their software only works on Windows XP and higher. We Mac users get shafted!

I signed up for this, but I can't help but wonder if the initial screener video we had to record is the same for everybody, or if it's a *real* assignment from a paying client and usertesting.com is basically getting free work out of us and collecting $29 from the client for it.

I see this was posted on Craigslist in New York City about a week and a half ago looking for panelists. Looks legit. Makes sense if they are charging the client 29 per one viewer and pay the viewer 10 bucks.

agreed sportsdoll, I downloaded and went to watch the "training" video they offer and I couldn't get anything to work. I emailed them about it and if I hear anything will post it.

No, and I'm very disappointed because IMO my practice video was very good. I'm suspicious that what I posted above is correct. I bet this company has very few clients and they are using our practice videos for real customers. I think this might be the case because the practice website assigned to me was very unusual. The assignment was use a particular website to find a poor person in Asia to lend money to. I would have expected the practice site to be something more normal, like a travel website.

I'm in and there are lots of jobs available to me. I'm really excited to get started.

FYI, I'm not sure if it's just coincidence or not, but I left a message for them this morning at the phone number listed on the "contact me" section of their website. I asked about the status of my application and I just got the email that I'm in.

I just finished my first assignment. I hope it went ok. I'm going to try another one now.
