View Full Version : Opening slickdeal's links in new tabs in Firefox

For some reason, slickdeals is the only place where when I ctrl+click a link it opens the link in both the current tab and a new tab. This happens in the new firefox 1.5 general release too. It works fine in any other "forum" type site. And, oddly enough, right-clicking and chosing "Open link in new tab" works fine. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
*This seems to be slickdeals.net specific so I thought I'd post here first. Sorry if it belongs somewhere else. Also, I tried searching first but only saw something about a Safari browser with a similar problem, but I can't believe other firefox users aren't having the same problem.

I have this problem too. But, it's not only with SD. It happens on other forums/sites that uses similar versions of whatever software SD uses (vbulletin?) Some of the phpBB sites does this as well.
It's highly annoying, but the only thing we can do is right-click links and select "Open link in new tab" whenever you want to do so.
Using your middle mouse button will cause FF to open link in new tab, only fix i've found.

If your mouse has a middle button, sure. (:

Yep. This is what I've had to do.

Unfortunately this is on my laptop and I don't have a middle button I can use. If it's a prob with the forum software then I guess I won't hold my breath for a fix. Thanks for the responses though, good to know I'm not crazy.

I looked for extensions and there's like 6 pages involving tabs. Which extension do you use?

Same thing happens when you right click and "Open in new window" in IE.

I vote SD junks the new forum control set and go back to the old one.

I don't have any extensions installed on this computer, and it opens in a new tab fine for me, original page stays open as well ... FF 1.5, middle mouse button works too though

On a similar install, I find right-clicking and choosing "open in new tab" (golly, do people still do that?) works, but ctrl+click opens the page in both the current tab and a new one.

It did this on the old one, too. Time to move on from Netscape. It was fun in the 90s, but those are over now.

 Yah pretty much after netscape turned to crap it was time to move on, then when FF came out there was no need to visit www.netscapesucks.com
