Is threadcrapping a good reason to nerp a pathetic n00b?
I may not be a complete veteran here, but I certainly know the difference between valid criticism and useless threadcrapping.

I think so. Peer pressure is good. I suggest that you attempt to offer constructive criticism vs. total annihilation. I find that people can hear things better if they are said with care.

It'll make him or her think twice about threadcrapping again. Unless they don't give a frig about reps.

hmmm perhaps I shouldn't have just gone into the "free dvd player" thread and said something along the lines of "holy crap is this still going on ...with the same whining"

I nerped a guy for some really obnoxious behavior. He didn't realize he had been nerped (he thought he had been repped). He gave me a rep pt back and thanked me!

I think it is too. I hate reading through pages of crap just to get to the bottom of a good deal.

So NERPs show up as Red boxes or something?

So NERPs show up as Red boxes or something?
They do on other VBulletin forums, so I'm assuming they would here.

No, nerps just reduce rep points. No red boxes involved.

What if someone nerped you and there was no comment but upon reading the thread from which you were nerped, you feel it was unwarranted?
I could care less, but someone "shocked" me by nerping me for no reason. I should just hide the rep thingamajig.

Considering I've gotten one before, yes, it shows up as a red box.

I'm not asking who - but I am very surprised someone would nerp Kel_be!! :worship:The more visible and active someone is, the more likely he is to upset someone else, regardless of his real contribution.
Some posters seem to have unreasonable expectations from active participants, e.g.:"I can never get in on the deals you post," or,
"Why don't you come up with some deals I need?", or,
"You're so active here you should have better posts, you need to set an example for others..." etc..
They don't give the more visible poster the same amount of slack they might give someone with fewer posts to his credit.
Also: Drive more miles, get in more accidents, even when none are your fault.
I'm not saying this is what happened to Kel_be, but it definitely does happen.

Let's just say, It was over a warning point and the recipient decided to retaliate as much as they could. Said member is no longer with us due to their behavior following the incident.

They never deserve it, they are the Mods! :matrix:
No but seriously, I would, if I truly felt that what they did was unwarranted, I'd give them a Nerp. And I don't know if the person above got banned for giving a nerp to a mod, but I don't think it is fair that they be banned for giving a nerp mod.

I agree that mods on boards are usually picked for being level-headed, but sometime people have a bad day.

They were not banned for giving me a neg. rep. Like I said, it was what they did after the neg. rep to other mods which resulted in the ban.

Hmm. I nerped a threadcrapper yesterday. Only problem was, she was bold too. So she nerped me back. In her words, "Right back at you dear."
