Seems like the titles on the hot deals forum need some help. There isn't enough discription (i.e. AR, B&M, etc.)

It's all up there in a sticky. You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make him drink.

:iagree:

Plus a HUGE pet peeve is mine is putting *hot* *superhot* etc. in their own title.

It's so sad to read *mega hot* with a bunch of thumbs down next to it.

I wish thread starters would leave the judging of their threads to others and not themselves:nod:

I did that once, got 3 or so thumbs down, and have never done it since.

To the OP, I feel your pain. I have about 2-3 saving Annoucements from freebies telling people to search better. I know I have had some searching-technical-difficulties myself lately, but atleast I put the effort in. I understand how frustrating it is. I can't tell you how many times I've slammed my head on my desk when I find an offer reposted 2-4 times in one 12hr period!

Yes! Hotness should only be added by a mod!

IMO, "hotness" should only be judged by the thumbs up & people able to get said offer.

After using it (or messing with it) for a while and getting to know some of its idiosyncracies, I think I have better success with it now than when I first started.
For e.g., if one searches for "best buy", threads with "bestbuy" will usually not be returned and vice versa; so I'd search both "best buy" and "bestbuy".

BTW, I think the search string input box is too narrow; also, not sure why moving from one end to another (for a longer-than-it-can-fit search string) is such a pain (I found out through trial and error that delete a character or 2 at the end toward the direction you want to go helps).

I'm about to post a third "reminder" in Freebies. Third since I've been a mod. It's slightly frustrating.

VBulletin has a feature (i think) where you can have a notice pop up when they log in. If we want a refresher, the best way is to force everyone to read it by having the enter some secret code (which would be in the middle of what has to be read) in order to move in, requiring them to read how to post. Although that isn't necessary i'm sure... just to verify everyone reads and understands :)

And to take it a step further I think everyone should start giving a thumbs down to any thread where the OP puts *HOT* etc. in their own thread title.

Regulars hate it and just skip over, and nobody really changes their behavior because of it.

I'd like to see the symbol for up/down changed to a celery stalk that points either up or down :D

That would be 2 votes for celery.
