$50 shipped to anyone who can ship me a copy of the original NTSC Stadium Events :lmao:
-bigdogn12
For Chrissake people -- don't delude yourself into thinking you had this game....at least in the rare form. The reason why the game is valuable is because only a few copies of the game were made under this name. And then nintendo scooped up the property, renamed it, and bundled it with some of their systems. The bundled game is hugely common and worth very little. Stadium games is rare and worth a buttload.

There's only like ten complete copies of this game in the entire world. This is the ONLY factory-sealed copy left. Uber-collector.
Also, it's incredible how FAST Wikipedia is. I viewed this thread like 20 mins ago and the bid was at $6,000, and when I wiki'd to see the number of copies, it mentioned this eBay ad and its exact current price. Sheisse!

WoW ..... I highly doubt the price justify this game.... and I don't know if it really has retaining value
But ebay is really going to make a killing on this in fees...
If I was the seller, THE LAST THING I would do is accept :mad::mad:PAYPAL:mad::mad::mad: for this...period
I would require the buyer to come and pick this item up with cash transfer or equalivilant upon transfer of ownership and probably in front of some legal authority ... I would NOT trust some joe shmo with his/her paypal address paying me...
I will almost gurantee you that if this seller accepts paypal.... paypal will immediately lock this payment before the seller can take it out...
Screw Paypal... I wouldn't want to be paying a dime in fees for them either with such a HUGE amount...

Last week a woman put her childrens old NES on ebay with a copy of this game (unsealed, w/ box) and it went for $13,000. She didn't even realize it was special.
its not the game thats special
its the box/manual thats rare because the game was bundled in a nes set.
so the game itself isn't "rare", its the packaging as it wasn't suppose to be sold separately, so only 10 are available.

there's no way to tell whether it's a recalled version or not as far as I know.
Also even if it is, as soon as they play the game they're hit with a mandatory update that replaces the controversial song with an instrumental version.

Hopefully not very much for my sake. I had it and traded it in when I got bored with it. I did keep the case though, which I believe has a different UPC. So unless I'm mistaken, you would be able to tell if it was the recalled version or not.

ok guys, lets make us some future money...what can we cause a self inflicted price inflation too?
What we need...is something that might be in future demand (aka people will WANT to collect it) and something where we can controll the supply (aka not need to buy 8 Million copies of MW2 to cause a shortage).
Does anyone really think anyone will collect current gen games? The Wii is as popular as the NES in sales, but no one growing up will relate their childhood to taking a Saturday and beating a game with a buddy...are there enough PS3's used as consoles to make people spend Thousands in 20 years? Even the 360 is iffy...although picture how rare a non-HDMI working Xbox 360 will be in 20 years...still factory sealed, never RRoD. WOW! haha
Anyway...that will be the other tough part of people collecting items from this day and age...anyone with a fancy printer and some card stock paper can make an "Original case" and a big investment I am sure someone can make a disc that looks the same or close enough for the naked eye...now...try to duplicate an NES cartridge, haha
Curtieson
02-22-2010, 05:49 AM
Also...anyone else remember the Derek Jeter / Mickey Mantle / George Bush BASEBALL card from 2007? Yea, I remember that, and so does everyone that collected cards in that year because they got rich off of a percieved "valubility" created by the media and the masses.
Topps in the 80/90s would release an error then find and correct the issue, making error cards found early on VERY valuable because they were rare. This day and age...it costs to much to fix a mistake so they never do...but the Media found out about this error card within the 1st week of release and the public went NUTS wanting them because "this card will pay for my child's college in 10 years". They didn't know there were hundreds of thousands of them and 1 in 20 packs would have one.
Anyway, I had pre-ordered a box so I already had 2...I threw them up on ebay the day the story broke...sold one for $150 and one for $125 (the 1st people sold for $300...) and then a month later...bought back 3 to fill my sets for $2. I LOVED IT!!!
That is my little story of "collecting something you don't know"

It's the same game as the original Track and Field that came with the NES. The only difference is the name on the box and in the game. Also, rather than being by Nintendo, it's marked as a Bandai game.
Bandai originally released the Family Fun Fitness Stadium Events separately with their own version of the Power Pad (which looked almost exactly the same as the normal power pad).
Back around 2003 or so I was watching eBay for old NES games. I managed to find one of the the Family Fun Fitness mats. The seller had it marked as a power pad -- the only way to tell the difference was to look at the picture. I think I picked up the pad for about $30. Turned around a week or two later and listed it with the right description and cleared $100 for it. If only that mat would've had the game with it....

I owned a FFF and it was pretty ugly. It definitely had what seemed like a "Japanese" color scheme to it. The printing was very different from the Power Pad, but they were functionally the same. If I remember right, Stadium Events did not come with the bundle, it contained Athletic World.
I'm not sure why anyone would pay this much for anything related to the FFF or the Power Pad, but I suppose it did have its place in history.

I went to the San Diego Comic Con when I was 13-14 and there were a whole bunch of Spiderman AOL floppies there that they were handing out. My friend and I were very into warez and what not (ironically, hacking AOL), so every time we walked by the marvel booth, we grabbed handfuls of floppies for use as disk images and other storage. Once we got back to the hotel room, we'd remove the packaging, because that made them bulky. Great deal - free floppies forever! I think I ended up with around 100 of them, and he maybe got like 50.
Fast forward to a few years ago and the same AOL disc with packaging is going for $50 a pop.

On one hand you have people that will try to make a quick buck on the 'new' hot item...
On the other hand you have normal, everyday folk that are now looking through their "crap" for this gold mine AND FINDING IT! So...no selling in 3 years, I can believe. I haven't sold in 2 years and if I found this game at my house I would sell it while everyone has it fast on their "search radar"
BUT, the auction does look more shaddy then the other one...BUT again, it doesn't have the price sticker, so the game looks a little nicer then the other one!

Not only the fact that he hasn't sold anything in 3 years, but the actual seal job looks poor, and most telling to me, there's absolutely no pricing or store stickers on the game. That's enough red flags for me to believe it's a scammer.

With the free listing option the final value fee of the auction is 8.75% or $20 whichever is lower. In this case the $20 fee.
For normal auction it would be the following.
$0.01 - $25.00
8.75% of the closing value
$25.01- $1,000.00
8.75% of the initial $25.00 ($2.19), plus 3.50% of the remaining closing value balance($25.01 - $1,000.00)
Equal to or Over $1000.01
8.75% of the initial $25.00 ($2.19), plus 3.50% of the initial $25.01 - $1,000.00 ($34.12), plus 1.50% of the remaining closing value balance($1000.01 - closing value)
icebrg5
02-27-2010, 11:06 AM
$0.01 -$25.00 = $2.19
$25.01 - $1,000 = $34.12
$1001.01-$41,300 = $604.49
Final value fee is $640.81
Thats not including listing fee and any additional fees.

Holy crap! I used to have a copy of that game. I had no idea it was so rare. My mom picked it up at a garage sale with like 50 other cartridges for $150 in the mid-90's. I'm sure we gave it to Goodwill.

With the free listing option the final value fee of the auction is 8.75% or $20 whichever is lower. In this case the $20 fee.
I BET that they knew that...because that is why they are listing that one game on that account, and keep saying to look at a second account for all these other games...
I HOPE so at least....they knew it would go for more then $500, which is close to the break even point

OMG,...100,760 dollars for this game. The other one went for only 41,300. This is seriously crazy!

HAHA, NUTS! Look at the bid history...there is another D-bag on this one...in 30 seconds he bid 4 times...but this is a high roller D-bag, haha. It was 20k, then 40k, then 80k then the current bid! haha
How do you think to yourself "Self...I could get this game for 20k..."
Then 10 seconds later say, "Nah...lets do 40k", 10 seconds..."I would spend $80k"...then finally...how do you make the choice to say "I would spend more then 99% of the US makes in a year on a 20 year old video game that I will never even open and 1% of the world would even care about...and 30 seconds ago I thought it was only worth $20k"
HOW CAN YOUR BRAIN DO THAT!?!?!?!

I'm pretty sure he bid $20,000 then he got auto outbid (which wouldnt show) several times.
But maybe he is just a high roller douche bag. I like your idea better.

that's not quite how it works, someone puts in their max bid, another person bids something below it and it bumps that guys bids up, but still that is a ridiculous price :omg:

I was talking about this earlier in this thread...every line in the Bid History is someone clicking "New Max Bid".
When their system does the auto "back and forth outbid" nothing shows in the history.
Check this out:
o***o( 5 ) US $100,000.00 Feb-27-10 18:45:57 PST

o***o( 5 ) US $15,000.00 Feb-27-10 18:44:35 PST
2/27 someone bid $15k...then debated for a minute and he decided to bid $100k
on 2/28 the other guy came in and bid $20k and instantly outbid...then stepped it up to $40k then $80k all within 20 seconds.
Notice o**o's bids of $21k. $41k and $81k are not on the list as they were just autobids.
I don't think I am wrong.......but that is the crazy part...someone in 20 seconds decided to go from the price of a new Ford Focus to the price of a new Chevy Corvette ZR1

I think it's just someone messing with the auction since it's pretty well established it's a reseal job/fake.
Just someone trying to protect those who may not be able to identify authentic copies of the game from getting jobbed.

So, why would somebody be dealing with this much $$$ over e-bay. I'd give it to a LEGIT auction play for a %. The piece of mine would be worth it imo

The problem is it went from $20k to $100k so fast...at $20k he may think he was going to get paid. At $100k...it starts to get iffy...
The Guy that ramped from 20k to 100k in 30 seconds...well, his last bid in that 30 second area was actually $500,000!!! He has to know the guy is a fake then...
No collector would pay 100x more then what others would pay...the previous auction really helps set the max precident...and now people are just screwing with this guy.

At least the previous auction had detailed pics from every angle and the seller responded all questions and updated the description multiple times throughout the auction.
This current auction the guy hasn't responded to anyone questions or posted anymore information.Yeah the bids are really high up there and looking at the feedback of the current bidder has 97 so it seems like that bidder is not some ebay noob but they could still just be messing with the seller or the seller is shell bidding or having someone up his auction for him.

The last one ended about $40k, right? So, grading moves it up $460k in value? Haha...
I guess he is just going to play the "Make an Offer" game for a week, get the press around it, and then maybe list it for auction?
