Not a credit card. Free for the asking. I signed up for one a while back when they first came out. At the time, if you registered it online, you had the option of getting a free drink at the cafe, $5 into our Christmas account or something else. This coupon could be from the "online registration" option.

The coupon is NOT user specific. I've actually used the coupon a several times already.

If they ask for the rewards card, it's because you earn points on your purchases. Every time I've used the coupon, since there is no $$ being spent, they have not asked for my reward.

The original email had my name and rewards. I took them off in the URL so anyone can enjoy. But if you just cut the coupon out, it really doesn't matter.

Even though I don't buy many books (but use PaperbackSwap.com instead), I love the Borders Rewards card. You get a free dessert on your birthday and discount coupons for books every month. For free card, it's great value!

The 30% off and coffee coupons that are now being *modified* for eternal use should always expire on a Sat.

That is how Borders sends them out. They give the Borders Reward members about 3 weeks to use them when they are sent to their email, and ALWAYS, ALWAYS have a SATURDAY expiration date.

Not sure if has changed then, because when I first signed up online it was good for 2 weeks following the sign up date, regardless of day of the week. I remember mine expired on a Friday.

Really good deal since desert items (lady said anythign in the little fridge applies except for sandwiches/wraps) range from $0.99 to $3.99. I printed out the coupon and I was perfectly fine. I picked up my borders card the same day my textbook came in and the cashier took the percent off right away. Spent $49 on a book that was $67 new!

Good to know. I've also used it several times with no problem. The last time I used it was a couple of weeks ago, so I wasn't sure if it was a new problem. There's a book that just came out that my mom wants and I'd hate for her to be rejected. Seems like the dvdtalk thing was an isolated incident.

I've usually had no problems getting a cold beverage with the coupon. Only once has the guy said it specifically says hot beverage only. I sat there for a while saying can you pour the hot beverage over ice perhaps as well as stating the cold beverage I wanted was actually cheaper than the most expensive hot beverage. He wouldn't budge so I just got the most expensive hot drink I could. Then asked for a cup of ice politely :)

If I'm going to be buying that expensive of a book or that many of them I go through Amazon since they're so much cheaper. I've used a couple 30% off coupons but I started to worry that they'd catch on or just stop with the coupons. Maybe that's why they put the $20 minimum on the new coupons. But I don't think anyone's too happy about that. If you don't like these new coupons or the lack of good new ones, let them know. Maybe they'll go back to sending out 30% with no restrictions so we won't have to keep using the same ones.

Same here. Unless the book is a rare one (amazon will not discount those),
Amazon is a lot cheaper. When they had the 30% off, I easily hit the shopping
day. Now all the spending is funneled to Amazon. I hope it's only me, and they
keep doing business here. I would hate to see our Borders store closed.

just a program. No fee or anything. Think the little cards grocery stores do, but with points to get free/discounted stuff (eventually).

I think they finally figured out what's been going on with the coupons, because the 30% coupon comes up as a blank page as well.
OR the page isnt working right now.

That's what we've been saying. It doesnt work anymore.

I think they caught on to what's been going on about being able to change the expiration date all the time.
