pertains to mac osx 10.3, safari browser, 3-button mouse:

has anybody else noticed that in the past day or so (that i've noticed), when using a 3-button mouse to "middle-click" on a forum thread link, it opens the new thread in a new tab (expected), but then proceeds to open the link in the current tab (unexpected) as well?

its annoying... i usually middle-click on a series of links i'm interested in to open them in a series of tabs, then go through and read them 1 at a time.

something changed in the forum html in the past day or two that now prevents that.

mods: did you folks change anything?

Mr.Slickdeals would have to answer that question, he is the one that does all the changes. I'll ask him tomorrow if he doesn't get back to you today.

Solution: Don't use a mac :)

Works great in Win XP & Mozilla 1.6.

but then i'd have to deal with my computer crashing, getting hacked into, spreading viruses, and new operating systems only every 5 years.

so i ask again, any recent html changes to the forums?

Javascript was added to make the thread box clickable and highlighted when the mouse cursor hovers over it. I find it useful since it increases the clickable area.

I haven't found any quick solutions just yet. I may end up disabling it for Safari browsers.

hmm... that must be it. a bunch of forums i visit got upgraded to vbulletin 3.0.0 recently (ie: http://www.macosxhints.com/forums), and SD is the only one with this issue. it's also the only one with the thread box highlighting.

silly javascript... ;-)

thanks for the reply though. if you need any safari testing, feel free to let me know.
