Here is the bottom line because we have this discussion every time there is a woot post.

The majority of people here on slickdeals know about woot.com, and if they want to check it they will check it. Personally the in my opinion I think the mods should put an end to all of this and create an OFFICAL WOOT THREAD. If we were to add up all of the posts from all of the previous woot threads, along with the arguments and everything else it would probably equal the amount of posts in the OFFICAL XBOX 360 THREAD. If people want to see it then people will look there to see it. To be honest with you I just get annoyed with people who hover on woot's website so the second it's posted they can post it here, for a desperate attempt for rep points. It seems like that's what some people here are doing regardless if the product is HOT or not HOT at all.

What it all comes down to, is that EVERY SINGLE DAY we have the same DAMN arguments about how horrible the product is or how these woot deals should not be posted, etc.

All I hear is that if you have a problem with woot posts than don't click on them, and don't threadcrap. Let's finally put a end to all of this it's really getting old.

DO WE NEED AN OFFICAL WOOT THREAD???

I don't think its necessary. Everyone knows about woot the only reason I like to read the posts is everyone arguing about whether its hot or not!

long time reader, first time poster (sounds like a cheezy call in for a radio station). Post does provide value - some people go all out in that forum and tell you where to find a better deal on the woot item.

exactly i mean if you look at woot every day, wtf are u bothering to click on a thread that is clearly labeled woot, just to complain, the problem with doing a woot thread, or a sticky, is that now you've got to sort through pages and pages of crap, and morons like you talking about how much woot sucks, to find anybody talking about the actual deal, or to find an old item that you might want to rediscuss... ya know people post dell deals all day long maybe we need a dell sticky so that every hot deal gets posted right in there and u have to check it every five minutes to see if something new is up, or maybe we could just start a "stop wootcrapping thread" and so everytime you wanna crap on woot or anything else for that matter, you can go in there and do it instead of clogging up the deal threads....

and finally this doesn't belong in the hot deals forum so mod's please get this crap out of here

most of the people know the name of every retailer but why do there deals get posted on the slickdeals daily....from all those known retailers...

think of this as a way to notify other people...

And here we go touching a nerve on italiiano because he happens to be the one who hovers on woot and IS THE ONE making the desperate attempt for Rep points.

You know, posting woot deals isn't as bad as you guys are blowing it up to be. Yes we know woot has a different deal every day, and we know how to check them out. We also know that cellphones come FAR with service plans, TiVo DVRs come heavily discounted or FAR with service plans, and that one guy keeps posting free cricket matches on TV or something. However no one rags on them. They simply don't click the link.

No, I don't think its necessary to make a woot thread.

I don't have time to check woot every day, so I do appreciate seeing the Woot posts in the hot deals forum. I can glance at it and if it has a ton of thumbs down then I know woot sucks today, if not then I read the post.

I see no reason to give woot it's own thread because then every ranting moron on SD will start crying because some other store they love doesn't have it's own thread. We can't play favorites or else the whiners will have more to whine about.

Do you see where I'm coming from everyone? This is how all of this goes back and forth. Italiiano I could sit here an say stuff about you all day long, but that's not why I posted this. I posted this to try and put an end to all of this constant drama. Obviously you have a problem with it and want to continue to complain... It's ok italiiano... I forgive you!

Doesn't really matter - Woot happens at, what, 10 pm Pacific or midnight eastern? Not a helluva lot of new deals happening at that hour anyway, so who cares?

Let's ban Woot posts altogether. The deals are never better than luke-warm anyway. They don't belong on SD at all.

Woot is totally worthless.
For those times it is somewhat more than worthless, it's still worthless since the item is always out of stock.
There is NO POINT in posting woot deals.
I thumbs-down all Woot postings reflexively without even thinking about it.

haha ^^ agreed. next thing you know *someone* is gonna start another poll asking: "Should we make a COMPUSA, OUTPOST, CC, OD, official thread?"

and i totally agree with offbeat. go find better stuff to do than rant about every little thing in life.... move on.

maybe we'll have an official Office Depot Thread, official Staples Thread, official Costco thread....
heck they're all retailers maybe an official Retailers Thread
eh but then the posts will get confusing, so lets take that thread and make it into a forum, and have threads within that per deal......(ohhhh like it is now!)

I think that we're missing the point here... When there are multiple posts for OD, Staples, Costco, etc. is there constant nagging and threadcrapping?

No.

That's all the Woot posts are anymore, and that's why I started this poll. This poll was not designed so that we should try and decide if a seperate thread is needed beacuse of how many posts are made per retailer. This was made because of the amount of threadcrapping that goes on in each Woot post.

Maybe instead of a having a separate official thread or even a separate forum section just for Woot deals, there could be an entirely separate website.

People would know to look there for the most thorough discussions of the products being offered.

It could even be called "Woot.com" or something like that!

It takes more time to find the latest Woot thread here than it does to find Woot.com, and then when you get to Woot.com, the discussion is more focused and in depth than it is here.

you always come up with the brightest answers...were you home schooled? :lmao:Thank you, but no home schooling for me, unless you count those sessions out behind the garage... Seriously, we did a lot of learning outside of school - my older sibs came home from their classes and taught me their lessons, before I started Kindergarten.

IMHO, in the 50s/60s when I was in K-12, education was incredibly different than it is today.

Back then, sex discrimination forced the brighter working women into two main careers: Nursing and teaching. Teachers unions were non-existent or fairly weak.

So, we had some incredible teachers back then. Now, they'd probably be CEOs of their own companies, or scientists, or salespeople, or rock stars, or who knows what, but back then, the brightest working women generally were teachers or nurses.

Hehe. I posted a poll in here asking if we should have an official Cricket thread to unify all the myriad single Cricket match threads to which the Mods replied "What Crickets threads?"

At least now I know I'm not the only one that sees all of those!

This is definitely not true. Most of the Woot posts are people trying to be on the first page - you have to dig deep to find any meaningful discussion.

Yes, one ahs to dig, but don't they have a much more widespread base of people who comment? There are plusses and minuses to that, of course.

The basis for my comment was:I don't have time to check woot every day, so I do appreciate seeing the Woot posts in the hot deals forum...My point was that it's FASTER to find Woot info at the original source than here.

Maybe Slickdealers :celerylift: are more astute and our forum :angel_not: more pure than Woot'?

gotta a toaster anyone........ :D

I had personally never heard of woot until i started "living" here...

If everything was organized into "official threads" then alot of deals would never bee seen. Those threads end up being 100 pages long and things get buried deep.

The threads that matter are kept up to the top (not lost in the daily posts).

Woot threads die fast unless it is a woot off thread. The last one was pretty good IMO, the thread that is.

Too many stickys / official threads get annoying.

I'd vote for leaving it how it is but the pooll is closed.

And on a side note: if you have time to post here, you have time to look at woot.com for a min. and see what they have.

Woot doesn't need its own thread. All reoccurring deal sites need one thread.

I don't have time to check woot every day, [...]

WHAT?! You type 'woot' in the address bar and hit CTRL Enter and it loads in 2 seconds. How can you not have time to do that when you BROWSE SD? Load it in another window while a SD page is loading! Cripes!

Do people actually click and read the threads that annoy them, or are they just annoyed that someone would actually post them on SD? If the title is woot, and you don't like woot why do you even view it?
