A gunman wearing a ski mask and brandishing a rifle entered a library at the University of Texas at Austin today and fired several shots before taking his own life, university officials said.

Police are still looking for a possible second suspect and the campus, site of an infamous 1966 school shooting, remains on lockdown.

"The armed suspect is dead. No other injuries have been reported," UT President Bill Powers wrote in a campus email.

The shooter was found dead on the sixth floor of the library from apparently self inflicted wounds, police said.

Depends... AK-47s can be a handful for an inexperienced shooter, especially at a distance. He may have realised how hard it was actually gonna be to shoot people, and offed himself.

my friend was on campus in her grad school of health classes, got stuck in a room for three hours on lockdown. and, in true Austin fashion, she got a parking ticket in the process since she couldn't leave when she normally would. glad she's okay, along with everybody else on that campus. I was north of town, up Georgetown all day.
