View Full Version : Unable to give rep points

I've searched the Forums, and read a few other posts about not being able to give rep points - because you're under 50 posts. To give rep points, you click the points link or the green box - But when I click to give a rep point - I know that it'll be grey and won't count - I get an error message saying that:

"you do not have permission to access this page. This could be due to one of several reasons:

1. Your user account may not have sufficient privileges to access this page. Are you trying to edit someone else's post, access administrative features or some other privileged system?
2. If you are trying to post, the administrator may have disabled your account, or it may be awaiting activation."

Am I doing something wrong? Do I have to wait a couple days/weeks before I can rep?

You cannot rep a post if it is 30 days old
You cannot rep a post if it is in the Lounge, Podium, Rebates, or Site Issues and Suggestions forums.

What post are you referring to?

I'm trying to rep these two threads:

Get an additional 10% off your Sprint account (http://forums.slickdeals.net/showthread.php?sduid=106320&t=223508&highlight=sprint#) - started 3/30
and
Get a better sprint phone, worked for me! (http://forums.slickdeals.net/showthread.php?sduid=106320&t=227671&highlight=sprint) - started 4/5

I know that my repping won't actually count towards their point total - but it's more the principal - both deals saved me money and I got a sweet new phone.

Yep, I'm logged in. I'm clicking the green button / point link that I've boxed in red.

But I don't have the "Thumbs Up / Retract / Thumbs Down" buttons either. That was going to be another post - but I figured you had to have a few posts before you can start giving your stamp o' approval...

very interesting... Please wait for a Mod/admin to answer this

Perhaps there is a glitch in the system and they need to give you your privileges or there is a new policy I am unaware.

Thanks for your patience.

I understand the principle behind it as well. You will fit in well here :gossip:

Welcome to SD's :)

notice that it shows his name (lloyd), so it is not the same error message that a person would get when not logged in.

-Thanks for noticing that, I must have just skimmed right by it. But still, a Mod/admin needs to shed some light on this.

Thanks everyone - I really appreciate all of you looking in and trying to help. I'd say I'd rep you - but we all know how that'd turn out... ;)

lloyd .....
you should still rep people (I don't mean us :D) even if your rep is gray and doesn't count.
It is still nice to hear that someone is thankful. :)

Hi Brisar - I agree with you and I'm all for giving the rep points as a thanks - if it counts or not and whether it's for a deal or for helping a n00b like me out. :worship:

I only meant that I can't rep right now because of the error messages I get.

I know he said that, but I'm simply telling him that people still like to get rep even if it's grey.....
and I meant AFTER the problem gets worked out.

but I'll still hug you back because you're TMK

I can't leave rep points either, even when logged in. How long do we have to wait after joining, or how many posts do we have? I'd like to thank the people who found me deals!

That's works for me - I wasn't sure if I was doing something wrong or not. I can live with the "with great power comes great responsibility", but once I'm able to, I'll thank everyone for their help in this thread! :)

In the meantime, thank you all!
