View Full Version : Good place for AV cabling in bulk

I am having a hard time finding decently-priced AV cabling like RG6, CAT6, etc. B&M stores rape you on price and usually do not have 1000' lengths. Monoprice is constantly OOS RG6Q and their "brand X" cable scares me. eBay is hit or miss.

Any good, reliable and cheap sites for this stuff?

Are you after a specific brand?

not really.... a brand name would be good e.g. belden, commscope, ppc, etc

I'm just leery of buying some brand X cable, wiring my entire house with it, then finding out it's shit.

I know you said B&M are out, but Microcenter often will have 1000' spools for reasonable prices (more than monoprice). I've never had a problem with the quality from there either, so if there's one nearby that might be an option; if not, an order over the phone may work.

Firefold sells things at a good price. A little more costly than Monoprice. They have a pricematch policy so you can try using it to save some money.

I am not questioning why cable is expensive but where it is least expensive. RG6 is CCS so there is a very miniscule amount of copper involved

Depending on the quality of cable you want, you can get full copper RG6 (Belden 1694A) at places like http://www.bluejeanscable.com for decent pricing. It's still expensive, but depending on what you plan on using it for and if you are planning on doing your own wiring, I'd be more worried about the time spent (re)running the wire than the cost. I'm sure you can get passable cable elsewhere for cheaper, and it might be worth checking out the home centers for bulk rolls of cable (probably made in China) that are much cheaper by the foot.

Last 1000' boxes of cat5 and rg6 I bought were from Lowes.

or home depot, or most larger do it yourself centers.

in fact they usually stock it and just have the boxes sitting there for you to pickup.

same goes for a good place to locally pick up cables that are significantly lower priced than most electronics stores.

How about going to the big boys like Newark and Digikey?
